"In Shadows, I Dance"

I've danced in shadows where kings fell, Whispered lies that turned saints to sell, I walked through ruins where empires bled,
Their crowns turned dust beneath my tread.

I've tasted fear on every tongue,
Fed on the breath of the bold and the young.
I've shaped the path of men's desires,
Their souls, my ash, my endless pyre.

I stood at the gallows where justice waned,
Held the noose when the innocent were blamed.
I've watched the faithful plead in vain,
Their prayers like smoke that fed the flame.

In the trenches where brothers died,
It was my hand that split the tide.
I've seen the rise of blood and gold,
And laughed as the brave grew old and cold.

I've woven fate in twisted strands,
Guided swords with unseen hands.
I was there when Troy was burned,
When Cain's envy first turned.

I've whispered sweet into the ears,
Of every heart that feeds on fear.
I've always been the unseen guide,
The hand that drags, the voice that lied.

And still, you ask who lights the pyre?
Who sets your fragile world on fire?
Look deep, my friend, into your eyes,
You'll find me there-draped in disguise.
