Is this what it felt like for those cats she had once pet before?
Mei couldn't really even fathom it.
Such a wild sensation just from something as simple as this. It rocked her entire being.
Just a few stroke made her feel alot more warmer than before.
Not burning hot like the pain from her leg.
But something comfortable, akin to standing near a fireplace in the middle of winter.
Refreshing and comfortable.
Mei was almost about to relax before she jolted her self awake and stepped back from the woman's hands.
Was I becoming a pet animal to them?
Sure, you heal me, give me a place to rest, but I am not becoming your pet!
Mei thought to herself.
She stood straight and and dodged the tall woman in front.
Zooming past and through the door.
The child from earlier seems to have spooked too.
For Mei it was always a bit easy to scare those tiny creatures.
As she made it out into what seemed like a living room she could see what looked to be a big wooden table furnished with a wide cloth and several chairs.
The table seemed adorned with tasteless looking food. Just simple looking fruits without too much color, and what seemed to be brick like bread.
There were children that seemed to be in the middle of eating while Mei stared at the table.
Rough looking, ragged. And awfully pungent.
Were they homeless? What kind of place is this. Some homeless shelter?
It really couldn't be. How on earth could something like that exist in a cold and brutal world like this book.
In the middle of thinking Mei quickly noticed the children notice her.
They had wide eyed and cute expressions.
To Mei she felt like vomiting rainbows and sugar.
Too cute.
But either way, before they had any weird ideas of petting her again.
Mei rushed to what seemed to be a wooden door.
The top half contained a what seemed to be a window.
Mei could easily see the outside so she assumed it was the outside.
She jumped forwards, pushing open the door and feeling the breath of cold natural air outside.
It was breezy and cool, just like how she had felt it earlier.
She stepped out without looking back.
Sure they helped her. But she cannot and will not give away her freedom like this.
She ran and ran as far as she can, until she couldn't even see the building. There seemed to be a pathway moving along the building.
Mei decided to continue to walk along it.
There could be some humans who walk along this path.
And dealing with humans seemed to be less of a risk for now rather than more wild animals like that Boar.
"System... are you there?"
Mei asked out.
There was silence for a few moments before a voice finally responded.
