Ingredients:
113 g butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 well beaten egg
2 cups self raising flour
enough milk to make a paste
Method:
rub the butter into the sugar and flour . Add the egg and milk. mix well . roll out. divide in two and put half in an oblong tin.

226 g dates stoned
1 tablespoons sugar
1 cup milk
Method:
place ingredients in a saucepan and stir until soft over medium heat. cool and spread over pastry and then cover with remaining pastry. bake at 180c for 30 minutes.
ice with lemon icing. using about 1 1/2 cups icing sugar and enough lemon juice to make it smooth.
