A/N I am struggling with the motivation to write but I wanted to get this out there. I am working on a long upstead one-shot as well.
Hailey and Jay went to work one morning and everything was normal. As they were about to log onto their computers for the day they caught a case. They ended up catching the suspect who was a teenager an hour later. He was scared and confessed everything. It was an easy case. They finished doing their reports soon after. Voight had them catch up on paperwork. As Jay was doing his paperwork he got a new email. He checked it and saw that there were some new policies put in place and it was time for mandatory flu shots. He also got a separate email from the person who is in charge of all the medical stuff for the district that he was also due for his tetanus shot. His demeanor changed when he saw these emails. He tried to hide it but Hailey noticed. She had also seen the email so she figured it had to do with that.
"You ok?" Hailey asked when they had finally gone on lunch.
"Yeah, I'm fine" Jay replied.
"Jay I can tell somethings not right. Is it about the email we got? You can talk to me about these things" Hailey said as she grabbed his hand.
"Not right now" Jay replied. He didn't want to risk anyone else on the team overhearing.
They spent the rest of the day doing paperwork. When they got home they got changed and sat down on the couch.
"You can talk to me Jay I'm here for you what's going on?" Hailey asked.
"I know it's ridiculous that I'm freaking out so much over a shot but I just haven't had good experiences with them. When I was on my last tour I got taken and one of the main forms of torture they used was needles. Then I had to deal with a bunch of needles when I woke up in a hospital alone in a foreign country. I got home and was starting to get better but then I had to get a flu shot and panicked. My girlfriend at the time got frustrated with me and sat on top of me to hold me down and the student doctor who was giving the shot did it anyway even though I was saying no and panicking. I know I was annoying that day but that day erased all my progress and I haven't been able to make any new progress." Jay explained
"First of all I'm so sorry this happened to you, you didn't deserve any of it. Secondly, you are not ridiculous or annoying. You went through something traumatic and and a perfectly normal reaction. You did nothing wrong. Your ex was the one that was in the wrong. I promise you I am never going to do anything like that to you. You're safe and I love you so much" Hailey replied as she grabbed his hands.
"Does Will know?" Hailey asked.
"No he was supposed to be the one doing it but he woke up sick that morning. I don't want to put that guilt on him." Jay replied.
"I'm sorry Jay. I think we need to tell him something so he can help you" Hailey told him
"I don't know what I would say, I don't want to put any guilt on him" Jay replied.
"We" 'll figure it out," Hailey said as she hugged him.
They ate dinner and spent the rest of the night watching movies. When they got home from work the next day Will called.
W Hey man I heard a few nurses are coming down to the district next week. Do you want me to come over to your place next week and just do it there so it'll be easier for you
J yes that would be very helpful thank you I'm also due for my tetanus shot.
W of course I'll do Haileys then as well. I gotta go though I love you I'll talk to you later.
J love you too man
The night before Will was coming over Jay's anxiety was through the roof. He barely slept despite Hailey holding him all night and reassuring him that everything was going to be ok. The next morning he woke up and Hailey made them breakfast and Jay bar;ey ate. After breakfast, they went and sat on the couch and Hailey could tell Jay was nervous. He was sitting on the couch bouncing his leg and fidgeting.
