"You're toxic
You only want me when you lost it
And I'm exhausted
'Cause I take you back whenever you seem to want it"
-Care Enough For Two
Ashley Kutcher"Wes, please. Get off the phone. Hang up." I'm standing outside the bathroom door. Josh is watching Cars without a care in the world, and oh yeah, Wes is just on a phone call with my ex.
I hear mumbling on the other side of the door before he opens the door. "Give me the phone; I'll talk to him." I can't even look Wes in the eyes. I have no idea what Aaron said, but it can't have been good, "Can't." Wes looks a bit wary as he avoids my eyes, "Why?" Wes puts the phone in my hand and walks past me into the kitchen. "He hung up. Also, he'll be here tomorrow."
My heart is racing.

"Babe, Let's just go. What's the worst that could happen?" I'm in my room, and Aaron's at my window ledge, his legs hanging into my room.
Mom and I got into a huge argument. She doesn't like Aaron, my friends, my school classes, or my interests, and she wants me to change. She sent me to my room with a book titled 'Be a Better You.'
She's trying to parent me differently because she thinks nothing else has worked, so it's some random parenting technique that Keyla's mom taught her. She tells me what she wants and lets me figure out how to get there. There are no consequences for my actions, just silence on her side.
Of course, this isn't working because her shutting up and letting me live is exactly what I want. She's not very good at this technique either. She and I were screaming at each other earlier, and now the rest of the family is at the movies while I'm at home.
"The worst that could happen?! It's a party, you know I hate when people are drinking. Plus, you said Eva's going to be there." I get off my bed and walk over to the ledge, leaning my arms beside his legs.
"Eva is irrelevant. Who cares about her?" he moves his hand up to sit against my cheek, and his eyes look down to my lips before making their way back up to my eyes.
"And it's not a 'drinking' party. A couple of people will be drinking, but not everybody. This is just a celebration amongst my friends." His voice is so sweet and soft. His eyes don't leave mine, and I feel my expression soften.
"You promise?" He smiles and moves his hand to interlock it with mine. "I promise."
I changed into a navy blue shirt and a pair of light blue shorts and vans. This is basically my go-to party outfit; Aaron always wears something new; it's always basic but new nonetheless. He grew up with a lot of money and thinks it's weird that I re-wear outfits.
Aaron and I have been dating for two years, but we've known each other since we were babies. Our parents used to be in a high school friend group, so we were raised together until he moved to Arizona in the fourth grade.
When he came back Freshman year, we immediately hit it off. We were the cutest couple and rarely ever argued, so while my friends complained about toxic exes, I was still with my first love.
Now, we're at a party, with his ex 'situation.' Aaron and Eva were talking when Aaron and I started talking, but he ghosted her when he and I got close.
