Meera's Pov:

As I drifted into a light sleep, I heard the door creak open and felt a presence in the room. Panic surged through me, and I decided to pretend I was still asleep.

But then I sensed someone right beside me. "Oh Lord, save me, save me, save me," I silently prayed, my heart racing at the thought of the worst possible outcome. Suddenly, I felt a gentle touch on my face as they tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I recognized the voice, though I couldn't quite make out the words.

Wait, is it Xavier? Just as I thought that, I heard his voice clearly—it was him. But why was he speaking in Russian? What was he saying?

Confused, I strained to understand, but then I heard his footsteps fading away. He whispered something again in Russian just before the door closed. Sitting up straight, I mumbled to myself, "What was he even saying?"

Just as I was trying to make sense of what Xavier was saying, I can't recall when I slipped back into deep sleep.

Xavier's Pov:

Just as I left her room, I headed to my personal bar and poured myself a glass of the finest whiskey. With the glass in hand, I sank into my couch, leaning back and closing my eyes as I sipped. My thoughts drifted to Meera—her beauty, her innocence, her fiery spirit. Everything about her made me want her even more.

Lost in memories of Meera, the door creaked open, revealing Lucian, who spoke in a cold tone, "The body has been taken care of, boss."

I hummed in response, pausing for a moment before adding, "Arrange everything Meera will need. Dresses, shoes, accessories, bags—whatever she wants."

"Consider it done, boss," Lucian said, nodding before turning to leave.

Left alone again with my whiskey and my thoughts, I slowly drifted off to sleep on the couch, murmuring to myself, "Meera, my princess."

As the night wore on, the first light of dawn broke, and my eyes flew open to the incessant ringing of my phone. I pulled it out, the screen flickering to reveal a call from one of my men.

In a deep, husky tone, I answered, placing the phone to my ear. "What is it?"

"I'm sorry to disturb you, boss, but it's important," the voice said, low and tense.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"The Italians... they're causing some trouble," he replied, his tone laced with concern.

"Fine. Arrange a meeting with them. I'll handle it personally," I commanded before hanging up.

Stretching my arms, I stood up and made my way to my bedroom. After a quick shower and slipping into one of my sharpest suits, I dialed Lucian.

He answered on the first ring, his voice as cold and professional as ever. "Yes, boss?"

"Arrange the jet. I need to leave for Italy," I instructed. There was a pause before Lucian carefully asked, "And what about Meera, boss?"

I thought for a moment before answering "You stay here with her. I can't risk her safety with all this going on."

"Understood, boss. I'll prepare your jet right away," he said before ending the call.

Running my fingers through my hair, I pocketed my phone and headed toward Meera's room.

As I quietly opened the door, I found her sleeping peacefully. I stepped inside, taking her hand gently and kissing her knuckles. Leaning close, I whispered,

"I'll be back soon, princess."
