It was May 3, 2008, at Han Geng's mansion. The morning sun filtered softly through the curtains as Kim Heechul stirred in bed. His face twisted in discomfort before he jolted upright, clutching his stomach. He was two months pregnant, and the early signs were beginning to take their toll.
"으윽... (Ugh...)" Heechul groaned as he scrambled out of bed, rushing to the bathroom. His nausea had become a regular part of his mornings.
Han Geng, who was already awake, quickly followed him. "체리, 괜찮아? (Cherry, are you okay?)" he asked, his voice laced with concern as he gently rubbed Heechul's back. The affectionate nickname "체리" was one that only Han Geng was allowed to use, a term of endearment between them.
After a few moments, Heechul wiped his face and stood up straight. "응, 괜찮아... 배고파... (Yeah, I'm fine... just hungry...)" Heechul replied weakly, the craving for food suddenly hitting him. His appetite had been all over the place recently, but Han Geng was always ready to cater to his needs.
Han Geng smiled softly, wrapping an arm around Heechul's waist. "그럼, 밥부터 먹자. (Then, let's get you something to eat.)" He guided Heechul out of the bathroom and down to the dining room.
As they arrived, the household staff were already bustling about, preparing for the day. Han Geng nodded to the head butler, Jang Ho-jin-ssi, who swiftly ensured the couple was seated comfortably at the table.
"장 호진씨, 오늘 아침식사 준비 됐나요? (Jang Ho-jin-ssi, is breakfast ready?)" Han Geng asked, his tone polite yet authoritative.
"네, 한경씨. 곧 준비됩니다. (Yes, Han Geng-ssi. It will be ready shortly.)" Jang Ho-jin-ssi responded with a bow, before stepping back to oversee the meal preparations.
A few moments later, Choi Min-seo-nim, the chef, personally brought out Heechul's requested dish — a savory porridge that was easy on his stomach but packed with nutrients.
"감사합니다, 최민서님. (Thank you, Choi Min-seo-nim.)" Heechul smiled as he began eating, his nausea finally subsiding.
Han Geng sat across from him, watching with a fond smile. He loved seeing Heechul like this, even if he was feeling sick most mornings. It was a reminder of the life they were building together.
As Heechul finished his meal, he leaned back in his chair, his hand resting on his stomach. "자기야, 나 정원에 가고 싶어. 연못에 있는 물고기들한테 먹이를 주고 싶어. (Jagiya, I want to go to the garden. I want to feed the fish in the pond.)" Heechul's voice was calm, but there was a certain glow in his eyes.
Han Geng chuckled softly. "물론이지. 가자. (Of course. Let's go.)"
