Mr. Spencer laughed out loud.
"You loved Nick so much back then, and Nick trusted you so much, but you still betrayed him just to survive."
That day, Brandon was right about everything, except for one thing.
Nick is really not his substitute.
Nick's identity was special, and Olivia had to personally take him into custody. The townspeople showed some reluctance on their faces, and a few young men wanted to take action. Nick's eyes darkened, and he told them not to act rashly.
Olivia put handcuffs on him silently.
"Long time no see, Olivia."
Nick smiled beautifully.
"You've found a new owner. I'm so happy for you, but are you still wearing the collar I gave you?"
...
Brandon felt very uncomfortable after leaving the organization. Olivia was not by his side, and Harry was not there either. Luke gave him a cloak and sent him to the car.
"Ms. Spencer, you look pale. Do you want me to notify Dr. Mike?"
Brandon shook his head.
"No need."
"Olivia should be kept in the house by the master, should we go back first?"
Brandon nodded.
It doesn't snow often in City A.
Because this is a natural paradise, the fragrance of decadence fills every corner, so City A is warm and humid, and there is no snow all year round.
But today, it snowed in City A, a rare event.
The same thing happened on the day Crystal died.
He still remembered the day when he hurried back from City C. In the cold morgue, a group of people gathered around that woman's bed. He remembered that his hands were shaking, his steps were staggering, and he was crying his heart out.
How dare she die?
How dare she leave without saying goodbye?
Brandon sat in the back seat of the car, the colorful neon lights flickering on his face, turning into ripples like water. He lowered his head and looked at his hands in a trance. They seemed to be full of blood.
That person's blood.
Luke glanced at the rearview mirror and didn't dare to say a word.
Because he seemed to hear Brandon sobbing.
It was already two o'clock in the morning. Blue mountain had become quiet at this time. The world seemed to be immersed in a vast and desolate place. Blue mountain was located in a remote area. There were no pedestrians or vehicles.
Luke turned around and looked at him.
"Brandon, should we go back to Plum house or go to Blue mountain?"
Brandon paused, trying to make his tone sound more natural.
"Let's go back to the Plum house."
Plum house is Brandon's residence. The decoration inside is very simple. Luke parked the car at the door and opened the door for Brandon.
Brandon got out of the car and opened the door. A faint smell of oldness came from inside.
He had forgotten how long it had been since he last came back.
In the small house where they used to live, there was always a light left for him, and when he opened the door, he could smell the smell of food.
Then Crystal would come out and ask him what he had been busy with recently and why he had disappeared for so long.
Brandon sat on the sofa. There was no light in the room, and everything was pitch black.
Now there is nothing.
About an hour later, he walked towards Blue mountain step by step without asking anyone to follow him.
There was some distance between the Plum house and Blue mountain. The cold and hard bushes wet Brandon's clothes. It was cold, and the branches hit his body, and it was a bit painful, but fortunately, he could bear it.
When he arrived at Blue mountain, his shoes and socks were already soaked, leaving a series of footprints on the ground. The worker was startled.
Brandon made a gesture to keep quiet.
The interior of the room could be seen through the transparent glass, but Brandon did not need to look up because through the wooden door, with his enhanced hearing, he could hear Crystal's steady breathing and heartbeat.
So steady and powerful.
In fact, it's not that he can't answer Mr. Spencer's question.
Why can't I answer this? I like her face, her voice, the feeling of her body, anything at all. Is any answer not okay? But Brandon couldn't speak because his mind was blank.
He couldn't say; he had no answer.
Maybe he should give himself more time, Brandon thought. Maybe he was just too tired recently, maybe he simply liked Crystal to be by his side, maybe he was just too depressed. He needed to take a break and think about this problem carefully.
That night at the Lobby Crystal's mocking voice seemed to linger in his ears again. That mocking chuckle chilled his heart. Brandon didn't know who he was talking to, but he began to repeat it in a mumbling voice.
He leaned against the wooden door, sitting on the ground without thinking about his image, with his fingers on the door, constantly drawing circles.
"Crystal, say you won't leave me..."
"Say you won't cheat on me..."
"Say you'll be like you were before..."
Brandon paused, and then repeated the words that he had not heard. "Love me."
...
In the mist, the sky seemed to be getting brighter. Brandon struggled to get up but saw Crystal walking towards him from afar.
She stood beside him as usual, with some pity in her eyes.
Brandon reached out his hand, but Crystal didn't take it.
She squatted down, met Brandon's gaze, and wiped his tears
"Brandon,"
Hearing her calling his name softly, Brandon couldn't help but look up. His eyelashes were wet, and he looked extremely pitiful.
"But, whether it's companionship or habit, it can't be considered love or liking."
The illusory words were like a sword, hitting Brandon right between the eyebrows.
