It was the first day of Sharad Navratri. A festival to celebrate and worship Maa Lakshmi and her forms for 9 days. The best part of Navratri is Garba!!
But here Himadri was sitting in her dorm, specs over her head, a pencil hanging on her ear and the back of the pen in her mouth, designing a dress for her best friend's 25th birthday....
For a middle class girl like her, 25th birthday was a normal thing but for her best friend, who was filthy rich, it was a pretty big thing. Suddenly someone barged in the some all dressed up ready to go for the common Garba night hosted for the area.
She snatched the pen from Himadri's mouth. "What the hell Adu!" Himadri shouted with irritation as her best friend wasn't even letting her work in peace.
"My birthday is after 1.5month babe! So chill and get ready for the Garba night!" She said with excitement but something made Himadri hesitant about going, "N-no, you go... i-i won't come! You go and enjoy and be b-back early" She pushed a strand of her hair back and rubbed her neck being nervous and embarrassed.
Advika sighed and cupped Himadri's cheeks, "Bachha! Uss cheez ko hue 4 saal ho gye hai! Aisa kuchh nahi hoga and even I'm there with you na~"
That horrible day 4 years ago is the day which Himadri still fears passionately... the mistake she committed that day was unforgivable because that day she had hurted her little champ and lost her dada to God.
After the constant nagging of Advika, Himadri agreed on going to play Graba with her but only for sometime. She quickly changed into her favourite set of lehenga which held many memories.
A sudden wave of nostalgia hit her as she remembered the words her little champ said before gifting this to her with his own pocket money.
"Didu!!! Tujha sathi gift ahe! Come here quickly or I will give it Shivanya vaini!!" As soon as he completed a hand gripped his ear and twisted it lightly to which he professionally overreacted like a typical drama queen.
(Sister!!! I have a gift for you!)
*Vaini - Bhabhi(Sister-in-law)"Kay bolat hotas Avyaan?" Shiwalik asked pretending to be serious as he understood Avyaan's underlying teasing for him when he addressed Shivanya as sister-in-law.
(What were you saying Avyaan?)"Ahh! Ahh! Bhai leave my ear, it will turn red~" He said with a pout as Shiwalik left his ear and shook his head. He didn't even grip Avyaan's ear tightly and here he was!
"Yes Avy! Why were you calling me and what gift are you talking about?" Himadri's interrogation started even before she actually entered their eyesight so as she came Avyaan shushed her by pushing a bag in her hand.
"Dada! Avyaan has bought a gift for me?" She asked to tease her little champ with underlying questions which Shiwalik understood and nodded softly not wanting to be playful during such a deep moment.
As Himadri got her answers she felt overwhelmed... overwhelmed as her little brother used up all his pocket money for her gift when he could've directly demanded Shiwalik for the money.
As she opened the opened the box, the soft lehenga set came to her vision and thats it! She couldn't hold her excitement! Setting the lehenga choli aside she took Avyaan in a tight her lifting him up in her arms and twirling around.
"Didu, tula hya varshi chya Garba sathi lehenga hava hota na! Bagh me anla as promised..." Avyaan chirped cutely.
(You wanted lehenga for this year's Garba right! See I bought one for you as promised...)
