Louis's POV:
"Rock-paper-scissors, shoot!"
"Oh, I won," I grinned lazily, flashing a peace sign. "Forward's mine"
Isagi and Bachira had taken the wings, which made things easier for me.
Kuon was mumbling as he sketched out our positions on the whiteboard like it would somehow make us look more organized than a pack of stray dogs.
But the truth is that, none of us had any real chemistry yet.
Speaking of clueless... I've been failing chemistry for years. Maybe that's why I'm so good at this—'winging it' thing .
"Hey, Louis," Isagi said, falling into step beside me as we walked out of the locker room.
The kind of dramatic tension you'd expect from a movie trailer hanging in the air. "Do you think we'll actually make it through this?"
"Does it really matter?" I asked, a lazy smirk curving my lips as I shot him a slow sidelong glance. "We're here, might as well see where it takes us."
Isagi chuckled, his hand grazing through his hair "Guess that's one way to look at it. You always this laid-back?"
"Pretty much," I drawled with a light smile "You always this worried?"
He huffed a laugh, bumping his shoulder against mine "Not worried. Just making sure we're on the same page."
"As long as the page isn't losing, we're good," I said, a smirk playing on my lips as I tied my hair back.
He grinned at that "Deal."
As we stood on the field, waiting for Team X to arrive, I gave them a quick once-over, my gaze uninterested.
Team X strutted onto the pitch like they owned it. Their energy was straight-up villain vibes, especially their main guy in the center. Dark aura, glowing eyes—you know the type. Overcompensating much?
He looks like the type who eats footballs for breakfast... and probably spits out goalposts for dessert.
The whistle blew, and we were off.
I started strong, weaving through defenders. Dribbling isn't my usual go-to, but when in doubt, improvise.
Two guys came charging at me, their faces set like they were coming for blood. I sidestepped them with ease, smirking to myself. "Easier than dodging group projects," I muttered under my breath with a smug grin.
But then, "Louis, behind you!" Isagi's voice cut through my world of self-satisfaction.
I whipped around, barely dodging Raichi, who was coming in hot "Raichi! What the hell, man?!" I shouted.
"What?" he said, all smug like he didn't just almost cost me the ball. "I've got this!"
Spoiler alert: he didn't.
