Louis's POV:
I found my path blocked by two defenders as I watched Kuon sneaking around behind Isagi, who was frantically scanning the field for someone—anyone—to pass to. No luck.
I couldn't help but think, Wow, Isagi's about to break under the pressure. I can feel it. Somebody throw him a towel or something.
Suddenly, Isagi's eyes flashed with a fierce green glow—like the kind of glow you see before your phone explodes. His aura grew stronger, and I thought, Yep, he's losing it now.
He surged forward, full throttle, like a freight train that couldn't stop. But just as he gained some speed, the older Wanima slid in and took him down with all the grace of a wrecking ball.
Isagi bounced back up faster than I thought possible. I just stared at him, half impressed, half baffled. Why does he keep doing this to himself?
Iemon's yelling echoed from the goal, adding extra pressure to the already tense air. Great. Like I needed more stress. I dashed toward the ball, trying not to get murdered by defenders who were practically stuck to me.
Finally, I managed to pass it to Chigiri—the only person who seemed to have a clue. He caught the ball, but Isagi was already charging at him like a wild beast, taking the ball for himself.
"Isagi!!" Kira shouted, and honestly, I wasn't sure if it was excitement or desperation in his voice. Isagi passed it to Kira, and they tried to launch a two-on-one. It was cute. It lasted about three seconds before the defenders squashed it like a bug.
"To me!!" I yelled, throwing my arms up in the air like I was about to perform a miracle.
Kira made the pass, and I swear, for a second, I thought I might actually score—until my hopes got crushed, as usual. Thanks, universe.
But just as I was about to make my move, I heard a voice behind me—smooth, like a snake. "Not so fast." I nearly choked and quickly redirected the ball toward Isagi.
The other Wanima tried to block him, but Isagi kicked it to the far side of the field. Unfortunately, there was nobody there... except Wanima and Kuon, both charging after it.
"Chigiri!!"
Chigiri Hyoma materialized out of nowhere, weaving between the defenders like a ghost, snatching the ball with uncanny speed. Four defenders lunged at him, but they were far too slow. He deftly nudged the ball toward the net, vaulting over the goalie in a stunning display of agility.
The ball rocketed into the net just as Chigiri's triumphant scream filled the air, a sound of pure exhilaration.
Team W - 3
Team Z - 4
The entire team sprinted in his direction, their faces lighting up all at once with excitement and anticipation. I sighed in relief, a smile breaking across my own while looking at them.
"Chigiri!!" Isagi screamed, full of praise like Chigiri had just invented football.
"Isagi..."
"You were amazing! Those legs—honestly, I didn't know they could move that fast!" Isagi said, trying to sound casual but clearly geeking out inside.
"Thanks, Isagi. I don't know how much longer I can keep running, but I believe this is the new me," Chigiri replied, practically glowing. "I'll keep running until my legs fall off."
But nothing ended yet... three minutes, last three minutes.
Team W commenced the kickoff, barreling toward our side with ferocious speed. But Kira and Chigiri worked together in a two-on-two, managing to snatch the ball with Kunigami's assistance, which found its way to Bachira.
He began dribbling toward the opponent's side like he had all the time in the world. As I received a pass from him, I took off toward the net. Of course, they've already figured out all our weak points. It's not going to be easy, is it?
I could almost hear the defenders sharpening their knives.
I sensed an ominous presence behind me—older Wanima, with that unsettling expression. Kuon stood in front of me, visibly anxious. "Isagi!!" I shouted, launching a high pass toward him, but Kuon's head intercepted it, sending the ball veering off course.
Chigiri, being the annoying show-off that he is, managed to appear out of nowhere again, receiving the pass like he had a radar or something.
"Chigiri!!" Kira called out, positioned perfectly for the ball. Chigiri passed it to him, and with a fierce gleam in his eyes, he began to weave past defenders. He managed to get it to Gagamaru, who barely touched it with his toe before it sailed in my direction.
"Not him! Don't let him score!!" someone screamed. Probably Kuon. But at this point, I was just waiting for the world to implode.
I could feel it—the goal was almost there—but no... How did we completely forget about him? The real game-changer on the field...
