{ 8 } The Tell.

Thomas and Amara were pulling up outside the video store as they had planned to hang out tonight. "What do you wanna watch?", Thomas asked her.

"You're letting me choose?", She asked him, she wasn't used to guys she hung out with letting her decide what they did or watched, always claiming her choices were boring or too girly.

"Yeah, I don't mind what we watch".

The pair went inside and noticed Jackson asking for someone to help him find the notebook. Thomas nodded at Jackson as he passed him, he knew the younger teenager from some parties and because he hung around with Delainey.

"It's really quiet in here", Amara commented as they walked around the store. The trio soon noticed a pair of feet sticking out from behind a shelf but when they went around the corner they saw that his throat had been slit.

"Shit", Thomas said as stepped in front of the small group, with Amara now not being able to see over his shoulder. Jackson had stumbled backwards and knocked over a ladder as he fell, he climbed to his feet quickly but the ladder had knocked the electrical panel in the ceiling causing the lights to begin flickering.

That was when Thomas and Amara heard it, they turned around a few seconds before Jackson, having heard the low growling coming from behind them.

It was the Alpha, easily identified by its glowing red eyes. All three of the teenagers ducked behind a shelf. Thomas was the closest to where they had originally seen the beast but when he peeked around the corner it was gone. The 18-year-old looked at Amara who was crouched next to him and shook his head slowly.

Both of the teenage werewolves could hear the way the alpha was darting between shelves, they knew they had to prepare themselves to fight it off but they both also knew that such a feat would be near impossible. Jackson was breathing heavily at the other side of Amara, unlike the two next to him he had no idea what was going on.

Next the selves started to fall, obviously having been pushed, they were getting closer to the hiding trio so Thomas grabbed onto Amara's arm and prepared himself to make a run for it. The two werewolves had moved just in time but Jackson wasn't so lucky, the row of selves had fallen onto his legs, trapping him below them.

Thomas let go of Amara's arm and went over to Jackson, he started to lift the shelves but paused for a moment when he heard Amara's heart rate pick up dramatically. Thomas turned around saw the alpha reach out towards her face, the teenage werewolf was ready to leap into action and fight the alpha to protect her but the look Amara's eyes told him not to move.

Amara did her best not to flinch away as the alpha raked his clawed fingers down her face, but what confused her was the gentleness of the action. She knew that if it wanted to, the alpha could tear her face off without blinking, but it didn't so much as lightly scratch her.

Thomas watched on and he could've sworn that just for a second a look of familiarity or maybe recognition washed over Amara's face, he wasn't sure though.

The alpha had now backed away from Amara and turned it's head to look right into Thomas' eyes, it then ran off and leapt through a window at full speed, glass flew everywhere and they all heard Lydia's screams from where she was seated in her car outside.

Police and paramedics had now been called and the two teenage werewolves were outside, Thomas was waiting for Amara to finish giving her statement about what happened to a deputy, obviously they hadn't gone into full detail, only stating it was a wild animal of some kind.

She went over to the taller boy and he immediately wrapped his arms around her shoulders, hers went around his waist and she laid her head on his chest. Thomas continued to hold Amara like that for a few minutes before pulling away slightly and placing a gentle kiss on her temple, Amara felt her heart pick up at the action but she hoped Thomas didn't notice.
