Chapter 4: Karaoke Night

The atmosphere in Taehyung’s apartment was electric with anticipation as the group prepared for karaoke night. After their cooking competition, everyone was in high spirits, and the idea of singing together only fueled their excitement. Lina couldn’t help but feel giddy at the thought of her karaoke date with Jimin.

“Alright, everyone, let’s set up the karaoke machine!” Jin announced, bouncing on his heels like a child in a candy store. “This is going to be epic!”

Lina watched as the members gathered around, arranging the microphones and fiddling with the sound system. Jimin kept shooting her sly smiles, and each time their eyes met, she felt a flutter in her stomach. Was it just her imagination, or was there something more brewing between them?

Once the setup was complete, the group settled onto the couches, ready for the fun to begin. Taehyung grabbed the first microphone, his voice booming with enthusiasm. “Okay, I’ll go first to warm things up! Prepare yourselves for a legendary performance!”

He selected a song, and the familiar intro to a popular K-pop track filled the room. Taehyung danced as he sang, his charismatic energy lighting up the space. Everyone cheered and laughed, encouraging him as he performed with exaggerated moves and facial expressions.

Lina couldn’t help but join in the laughter, enjoying Taehyung’s antics. After his performance, he dramatically fell onto the couch, panting. “Alright, who’s next?” he declared, wiping imaginary sweat from his forehead.

“Let me show you how it’s done!” Jin said, jumping up with a determined look. He picked a classic ballad and began to sing. His smooth voice filled the room, and everyone listened in awe.

“Wow, Jin, you sound amazing!” Jimin exclaimed, clapping when Jin finished his song.

“Thanks! But wait until you see my dance moves!” Jin replied, laughing as he took a bow.

As the night progressed, they took turns singing their favorite songs, each performance filled with laughter and cheers. Lina felt more and more comfortable as the hours flew by. She found herself singing along, joining in on the choruses, and getting lost in the music.

Finally, it was time for Lina to take the stage. Jimin leaned in closer, his eyes shining with encouragement. “You’ve got this, Lina! Just have fun!”

Lina took a deep breath, trying to quell her nerves. She had picked a fun, upbeat song that always made her smile. As she stepped up to the microphone, she felt the weight of everyone’s eyes on her.

The music started, and she began to sing, her voice slightly shaky at first. But as she got into the rhythm, she found her confidence. The room erupted in cheers as she danced along, her laughter mixing with the melody.

Jimin watched her, a proud grin plastered on his face. “That’s it! You’re killing it!” he shouted, joining her in the background, dancing and singing along, completely lost in the moment.

As the song came to an end, Lina felt a rush of exhilaration. The applause and cheers that followed filled her with joy. “Thank you, thank you!” she said, taking a playful bow.

“See? You’re a star!” Jimin said, giving her a high-five as she returned to the couch, her cheeks flushed with excitement.

“Okay, okay! I can’t let you all have all the fun!” Taehyung chimed in, snatching the microphone again. “I have an idea! Let’s have a duet challenge!”

Lina’s heart raced. “A duet? Who do I get to sing with?”

“I volunteer as tribute!” Jimin announced, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

Lina giggled, her stomach flipping at the thought of singing with him. “Alright! Let’s do it!”

They picked a romantic song, one that made her heart race just thinking about the lyrics. As they sang, their voices blended beautifully, and Lina lost herself in the moment, swaying gently as they sang to each other.

“Wow, you two sound amazing!” Jin shouted, adding to the cheers.

As they finished, Jimin stepped closer, and for a brief moment, their faces were just inches apart. Lina felt her heart skip a beat. Jimin’s smile was warm and inviting, and she couldn’t help but smile back.

“Not bad for a first duet,” Jimin said, his voice low and teasing.

“Yeah, we should definitely do this again,” Lina replied, her pulse racing.

The night continued with more singing, laughter, and playful competition. Taehyung insisted on challenging Jin to a dance-off, and the room erupted with laughter as they attempted to outdo each other.

“Take that!” Taehyung yelled, attempting a ridiculous move that had everyone in stitches.

“You call that dancing?” Jin retorted, shaking his head, but he couldn’t help but laugh along.

Lina felt a warmth spreading in her chest as she watched everyone enjoying themselves. It felt so liberating to be surrounded by laughter and friendship.

As the clock ticked by, the energy in the room started to shift. The laughter began to fade, and soon, everyone was lounging on the couches, tired but happy. The karaoke machine still played softly in the background, providing a cozy atmosphere.

Jimin leaned back against the couch, looking over at Lina with a soft smile. “You know, tonight has been incredible.”

Lina smiled back, her heart fluttering at the sincerity in his voice. “It really has. I didn’t expect to have this much fun.”

“I’m glad you’re here,” he said, his gaze lingering on her.

Just then, Taehyung popped up from his spot, his energy suddenly revitalized. “Who wants to order some late-night snacks? I’m starving!”

“Food sounds perfect!” Lina chimed in, feeling her stomach rumble in agreement.

“Alright, I’ll order some!” Taehyung declared, bustling into the kitchen to pull out his phone.

As Jimin joined Lina on the couch, they shared a comfortable silence, both stealing glances at each other, smiling at the unspoken connection between them. The rest of the group chimed in with their food orders, and the laughter resumed as they reminisced about their favorite performances of the night.

In that moment, Lina knew she had found something special in this whirlwind of a trip. With Jimin and the BTS members, she felt a sense of belonging, a feeling she had never anticipated. The night had turned into a beautiful memory, one she hoped would last long after she returned home.
