Wooyoung's POV
"Hi! San."
He was calling like he promised. Just seeing his name on the screen made my pulse skip.
"Hi, Wooyoung. Everything good?"
"Yeah. Been sleeping most of the day. You?"
"I'm good. Haven't slept that much. We're going on tour in two months. I'm excited, but..." He let out a quiet laugh. "It's tiring. We've been training a lot. Barely have time for anything else. But last night was a nice break from everything."
"Yeah, I read about the tour. I listened to the new song. It's good."
"Really? Thanks. I'm glad you liked it."
I lay back on my bed, heart pounding. His voice had become so familiar over these calls, soft and warm like late-night radio, the kind of sound that made you want to keep listening even when you were tired.
"Yeah," I said quickly. "I like everything you do...I mean, that Ateez does."
A low chuckle on the other end. "Is that so?"
I blushed even though no one could see me. "Yeah."
He didn't tease, but I could hear the smile in his voice.
"I'd really like to get to know you more, Wooyoung. To meet you again."
The way he said my name made my chest tighten.
"Me too, San."
"So," he said, "let's get started. Twenty questions."
I laughed, nervous. "Right now?"
"Right now."
I thought for a moment. "Okay. Favorite food?"
"Meat. You?"
"Yeah, same. A big steak."
"Favorite color?"
"Purple. Yours?"
"Black. What do you do when you're not practicing?"
"I like reading and playing games. I like sports but don't do them as much now. Mostly at the gym. You?"
"I like playing games too. And hanging out with my friends, doing crazy stuff. And..." I hesitated, embarrassed. "I like clothes and shoes. I buy way too much."
He laughed, rich and warm. "Maybe we can go shopping together sometime."
I smiled at the ceiling. "Yeah, that would be fun."
"What's your favorite way to spend a day off?"
"Sleep."
"Same. What makes you happy?"
"To be on stage," he said immediately. Then he paused, like he was weighing something. "Do you believe in love at first sight?"
My heart stuttered. "I've never been in love," I admitted after a moment. "But I guess if I see the right person..."
"I do," he said quietly. "Believe in it."
"Oh. Yeah. I guess it's possible."
"Do you have anyone you like?"
The question landed like a weight. I froze, my mouth dry. I knew my answer. I'd known it since the meet-and-greet, since the bridge at Han River. But saying it out loud felt impossible.
Before I could form words, San spoke again.
"I do," he said. "I have someone I like."
My stomach dropped.
