Golfball didn't do much in her life.
For being a military CO, she rarely did anything other than train her troops, go out and search for criminals, and then train some more. If she was being honest, the only genuine joy she got in an average day was talking to Rocky and inventing complex ideas.
Well, that was the case.
Before she met Tennis Ball.
Even for her position, they hadn't ever actually met in person until the day before. However, even if it was recent, she couldn't help but feel some...new emotions blossoming in her heart. It concerned her, in a way, but she shook it off. She still had a job to do, after all.
"Hands up." She demanded, and the thief she had cornered instantly obliged. She didn't really have much of a choice, considering the CO herself had a crossbow pointed at his head. One "cry for help" later, and she walked out of the alley casually, going into the next one to wait for Tennis Ball.
After a few minutes, he showed up as well. "GB, hi!" He smiled at her and gave her a little wave.
"Good morning, sir." She greeted with a slight bow, getting a nervous chuckle from the prince.
"You don't have to be so formal, you know..." He assured. She shook her head.
"That's not exactly possible." She pointed out.
"Hm? Why's that?"
"Just imagine what would happen if people thought we were friends."
He stood silent for a moment, before looking down and shaking his head. "I...thought we were." He muttered, just loud enough for her to hear.
She paused and looked at him curiously. "You do?"
"I-I mean, I wanna be! I really admire you, and I just—"
"No, you're right."
He raised his head and looked at her for a moment, shocked. Before he could say anything, she spoke up again, ignoring the unfamiliar feelings fluttering around in her stomach. "We're friends." She said with a small smile.
He stared for a moment longer, before smiling back, "Really..?"
"Yeah...Yeah."
"That's great!" He grinned, before remembering something, "Oh, wait!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out the bracelet she had dropped before. "This fell off your wrist."
"Oh, thanks." She thanked him.
"It's really pretty!"
"Mhm..." She hesitated for a moment, before, much to his shock, saying, "You can keep it."
"Wh...Really?"
"Yeah. It's too big on me, anyways. Plus..." She blushed, though didn't notice it, "It kind of suits you."
He thought for a moment, before smiling endearingly. "That's really nice, GB." He said as he slipped the band on his right wrist, "Thanks."
"You're welcome." She said, finally smiling back. "Anyways, I should go now. My break's almost over."
"Oh, okay! Same time tomorrow...?"
"Sure."
"Great! Bye...!"
"Bye." She waved and walked off, finally acknowledging the new feelings in her heart. Her concern hadn't let up in the slightest, but she hoped that simply training some more would make all the unfamiliarity go away.

It did not.
She found herself being much less focused over the past few days. Whether it was fighting or inventing or even just simple thought, her heart wasn't ever fully in it, even if her mind was. Her troops didn't notice it, nor did Tennis Ball, but she knew something was wrong. She just couldn't tell what it was. She'd considered asking Tennis Ball about it, but something within her told her not to.
So, she instead searched for a poet she remembered seeing in town recently. She made her way through the bustling streets of the kingdom, tuning out the chattering of the citizens around her.
Finally, she encountered Woody standing under a tree, writing something in his notebook. He looked up, and instantly shot to his feet, giving her a slight bow. "G-Good morning, Miss. Golfball!" He quickly, yet nervously, greeted.
"Relax, Woody." She replied, him standing up and giving a quiet, relieved sigh. "I just had a question for you."
"Oh, okay. That's good...What is it?"
"If I tell you, you can't tell anyone. Got it?"
He gulped and quickly nodded. "Wouldn't dare, ma'am." He assured.
"Good." She sighed, before reluctantly explaining her feelings. "Look. I've been spending a lot of time with the prince, recently, and I've been starting to feel...strange around him. I don't know why, but—"
"IT'S LOVE!"
He gasped and instantly slapped a hand over his mouth, shocked by his own words. She, on the other hand, was confused. "You're kidding." She declared, putting a hand on her hip, "I'm not the type to fall in love, Woody."
"I-I know that!" He blushed, embarrassed, yet confident in his deduction, "But, I think that you really are in love with Prince Tennis Ball. It just makes sense!"
"No, it really doesn't." She shot back, not sounding entirely sure herself.
He sighed, disappointed by the military captain's density, but also not surprised. She didn't seem like someone who was exposed to the concept of love much—he could tell that just by looking at her.
"I...You're free to not believe me, Commanding Officer. But, I truly do think that's what it is. There's no shame in it, too. You can love people, even if you're supposed to be the token tough one. It's just a natural human emotion. And, opposites attract, so maybe it's just fate." He spoke confidently. A tone that made even Golfball reconsider her previous thoughts.
"...Thank you, Woody." She finally said after a moment, "I'll be sure to think a bit more about all of this."
He smiled, relieved to have finally gotten through to her. "No worries, ma'am. I'm glad I could help you." With that, she walked off, now with only the sound of her thoughts in her head. She didn't fully believe him, still. A tough, genius military commanding officer, falling in love with the kingdom's prince? It sounded absurd to her.
Yet, even with that mindset, the wildest, most imaginative part of her heart told her he was right. It was really true. She, a girl who vowed never to put so much trust in anyone after a certain...incident had fallen in love. Without realizing it, too. She was embarrassed, of course, but also worried.
Was she really just bound to fall in love?

Anywayssss, I don't ever write chapters fully dedicated to one event, with no full story plot involved (a one-shot, basically), but I hope I did okay.
Anyways, bye!
