Reaching 29 is an implacable milestone as you are about to hit 30 decades of being alive and well.

Yet Sasha was embarassed hearing her co-workers sing and cheer as a cake with the candle "29" was staring her in the face. Sasha smiled shyly, looking down at her hands as her co-workers finished up the song. Sooyoung her chirpy best friend spoke up first.

"Blow out your candle Sasha! And don't forget to make a wish!" Sooyoung said as Sasha chuckled blowing out her candle softly as everyone applauded. "Thank you guys, you really didn't have to." Sasha said as Nayeon her co-worker stepped forward and treated herself to the slice of red velvet cake organised for Sasha.

"This is why i love birthdays." Nayeon commented as Sasha shook her head. Sooyoung came up to her and hugged her from the side. "Finally twenty nine and not so far from thirty, you should go to a club!" Sooyoung suggested as Sasha furrowed her eyebrows. "Slow down party animal I'm going home after this." Sasha said as Sooyoung slumped her shoulders.

"You're not fun! You did this last year too." Sooyoung said as their co workers scrambled rushing to their cubicles, Sasha and Sooyoung's heads snapped to the front seeing their boss approach, Sasha felt her heart drop.

Jung Haein was dressed in an expensive black suit as he came up to the main table with Sasha's birthday cake looking at it in curiosity. "Whose birthday is it?" Haein asked smiling as Sasha found herself at a loss of words, Sooyoung smiling brightly as she shook Sasha out of her trance.

"Oh.. i.. um it's my birthday." Sasha said pointing to herself as Haein chuckled looking at the cake before looking at Sasha.

"Really! Happy birthday Sasha." Haein said as Sasha smiled shyly. He had his million dollar smile on and Sasha's heart was racing.

Having a crush on her boss wasn't exactly on her bingo card, but Sasha had known Haein since they were both in college. Sasha came to South Korea as an exchange student and when she was a freshman, Haein was a senior. The two got close and that's when her crush developed.

" Twenty nine is a large number, when do you plan on settling down soon?" Haein asked as Sasha's smile faded. Sooyoung seeing it as an opportunity to actually get her office work done for once ,dashed to her cubicle.

"Oh...i.. umm..." Sasha stammered on, her feet in place and embarassment creeping from the back of her neck, Haein chuckled. "I don't think i told you about my upcoming wedding." Haein announced as Sasha's eyes widened.

"W-wedding? That's great sir." Sasha said as Haein smiled brightly, his cheeks growing pink in colour. "It's a month away, i can't wait to marry the love of my life, you should come too Sasha." Haein said as Sasha smiled suddenly feeling like running away.

"Of course.. i have to finish up my work, thank you for the birthday wishes sir." Sasha said bowing uncomfortably as Haein smiled before turning around, making his way back to his office, Sasha sighed.

Afterwards, everyone started to talk about Haein's wedding as he sent everyone's invitations through their emails. Sasha looked at hers sadly, it was a written testament that Haein can never be hers and it hurt her deeply.

You must bring a plus one.

"I don't know how i can bring as a plus one." Sasha said to Sooyoung as Sooyoung thinned out her lips. "I'm bringing Seonghwa along, i don't think you will be reprimanded if you're unable to bring a plus one." Sooyoung said as Sasha rolled her eyes.

"We have to, it says so in the invitation." Sasha pointed as Sooyoung nodded in understanding "I'm sure you'll find something Sasha." Sooyoung said as she patted her shoulder in encouragement before going back to her cubicle.

Sasha put her head on top of her arms.

This was just proving to be her worst birthday ever.

After her long and emotionally draining work day ended, Sasha with much difficulty went home after Sooyoung and Nayeon's never ending complaints for her to go out. She held the cake her co-workers organised for her getting in her car.

Putting the car in the backseat, Sasha drove home in silence with Billie Eilish's new album playing through her car.

When Wildflower started playing, Sasha couldn't help but get emotional. Did Haein really see as someone incapable of finding someone who will love her for who she is? Was that how he really thought of her?

In college, the two were in opposite worlds. Haein was popular and garnered all sorts of attention everyday ,whilst Sasha kept to herself preferring to watch Anime in her dorms instead of going out to clubs where her classmates met their future partners.

It was a choice Sasha made in order to not disappoint her parents who had worked extremely hard to get her in the position she is now, but at what cost?

She's never been in a relationship with fears that person will never fulfill her heart like Haein. Never.

And that's contradicting to say considering Sasha didn't date anybody prior to being with Haein.

As Wildflower ended, Sasha felt her tears, having flown down her cheeks she wiped it off roughly. There was no point to cry actually, Haein had moved on , found someone who loved him and is getting married whilst Sasha was forever stuck in time, reminiscing of her college days ignoring how she was getting older.

Who would want to marry someone as old as Sasha?
Her mother always said that women lose their fruit of youth after twenty five.

So Sasha was basically a boomer.

As she parked into her apartment building, Sasha sighed putting her head on her steering wheel.

"I have to find a plus one.." Sasha said softly.

Just a plus one.
