You are in love, true love.
"She's asleep again," Nick said as he walked into the bedroom. On his way to the bed, he took off his sweatshirt. Meredith sometimes wondered if he ever felt cold at all. However, she kept this thought to herself because she loved being cuddled up against his bare chest. She wouldn't want to give him any idea of ever changing that.
Meredith smiled at Nick as he snuck under the blanket with her. "Thank you," Meredith said with a soft smile as she finished things up on her laptop.
"Who are you sending emails to this late?" Nick asked curiously. He could have easily looked at the screen, but he didn't. He respected her privacy too much to do so.
"Curious, Dr. Marsh?" she teased him as she closed the laptop and placed it on the nightstand next to her. Then, she took off her glasses and put them on top of the laptop.
"I was just checking my emails to see if the seller of the house had replied yet," she explained to him with a smile as she made herself comfortable in bed.
Nick scrunched his eyebrows. "Oh, why? What did you need from him?" he asked. Part of him feared she had changed her mind again, that she didn't want to move in together anymore. But that wouldn't make any sense, would it? She was the one who wanted this house – so why would she back out now?
"I needed him to change the contract," Meredith explained. Nick hadn't realized how tense he was. And when he realized how irrational that was, it suddenly hit him. This is how Meredith must feel sometimes. Certainly not a great feeling, but all of a sudden, it was much more tangible for him.
However, he was still confused. "Why?" he asked. What was there that needed to be changed? They had both fallen in love with the house. Sure, there were minor things that needed work, but they had immediately agreed they'd want to move there. To spend the rest of their lives there, Meredith had said back then. A moment Nick would forever hold dear in his heart.
"They issued all the papers in my name. I had them change it to both of our names," Meredith explained. Now she felt nervous. She didn't know how he'd react since she hadn't told him about it until now. But this was the start of the rest of their lives, so she wanted to start it the right way, by being equal partners.
"You... really?" Nick said in disbelief.
Meredith smiled at him. "Yes, it's our house, so it should be ours too, not mine or yours," she explained. Her heart was pounding in her chest. However, in the next moment, it was all forgotten because Nick pulled her in for a loving kiss.
"Mer, you didn't have to..." he whispered as he leaned his forehead against hers.
"But I wanted to," she replied, as she crawled closer until she could finally feel the warmth of his skin pressed against hers.
"Now, can you remember what we were doing on the couch when we got interrupted?" she asked teasingly. Yes, she definitely wanted to continue where they had left off earlier.
"Oh, I remember perfectly," Nick grinned as he pulled her even closer.
