Do not be a silent reader.Author's POV~
The ride back home was torturous for Kriti, her thoughts swirling with the memory of her failed seduction. What she had planned so carefully had collapsed in front of her, and now she sat stiffly beside Aayansh, her heart thudding in her chest.
Every time she dared to glance at him, she could feel his gaze, burning into her skin.
When the car finally came to a stop in front of the mansion, Kriti practically leaped out, her movements rushed, frantic.
She grabbed the shopping bags, clutching them like a lifeline as she hurried inside, desperate to escape the proximity between them. Her heart pounded in her chest, which matched the storm of emotions swirling inside her. Embarrassment, regret, and faltered boldness.
Aayansh followed her, his steps deliberate, moving with that same frustrating ease, as if nothing had happened.
He sauntered into the living room and sank onto the couch, his presence as commanding as ever.Kriti dropped the shopping bags onto the table, some spilling to the floor in her haste.
She could feel his eyes on her, watching her every movement, and the weight of that gaze made her skin burn.Aayansh's hoarse voice sliced through the heavy silence between them, dripping with quiet amusement.
"I enjoyed it way too well, Kriti," he said, his tone knowing, teasing, as if he was savoring every inch of her discomfort. She spun around, her breath quickening as she locked eyes with him. Her voice wavered, a mix of frustration and confusion lacing her words.
"What are you trying to do?"But Aayansh didn't respond. He sat there, his eyes holding hers in a gaze so intense it felt like he could see right through her. Kriti's pulse raced, her instinct urging her to leave, to escape the overpowering force he exuded. She turned, her feet already in motion, ready to flee from the unraveling of her own control.
But Aayansh was faster.
In one swift movement, his hand closed around her wrist, firm yet not painful. Before she could register what was happening, he pulled her back with a strength that left her breathless and stunned, and in a huff, she found herself stumbling into his lap.
Her hands instinctively pressed against his chest to steady herself, her palms resting on the heat of his skin through his shirt.
Her mind ignored her protests; as much as she wanted to get up, a part of her reveled in the moment.Every nerve in her body screamed to get up, but Aayansh's grip tightened around her waist, holding her firmly.
"Aayansh-" Her voice quivered, more of a plea than the firm demand she had intended.
"Are you embarrassed?" He whispered cutting through her protests with a quiet intensity.
"Will you let me get up?" She began her voice shaking, intending to dare him.
His dark gaze was intense as he rasped, his voice a low growl
"No Kriti, I won't"
