Running late

Cas didn't show up at Starbucks for the rest of the week. Dean kept going though, he always got a coffee but also hoped Cas would be there too. But he never was.

----

The art exhibition is in a week and Dean still hasn't asked Cas to join him.

He thought about how he would ask him in the shower, he could ask him out on a date again and then just say it. Or he could ask him over coffee. Or just ask him.

Once he got dressed he realised he only had half an hour to get his coffee and make it to work on time.

He quickly ran out the door and pushed against the on coming wind and snow.

Lucky Starbucks had little customers that morning so Dean quickly grab his drink and was out the door again.

He opened the door backwards so he didn't see the person trying to go in and hit them with the door instead.

"Oh my god, Sorry" he quickly apologised, helping the man out of the snow "thank you" he replied looking at Dean, it was Cas.

"Hello Dean" he grinned "Cas" he smiled back "you hit me with the door" he laughed, Dean mentally face palmed himself. "Sorry Cas, I'm running late, can we catch up later? Over dinner?" He asked, Castiel chuckled lightly, a hand over his blue lips as he laughed "of course, I'd love to" Dean grinned back, he was glad Castiel was back and well "I'm off at 6" Castiel added as Dean was walking away, still facing him. "Okay, I'll pick you up here" he smiled "bye Cas" Castiel smiled back "goodbye Dean"

And with that they parted ways once again.

----

Dean spent the rest of the day feeling good, he worked extra hard and chatted to Charlie and Benny throughout the day.

Before he knew it, it was 5:30.

He put on his coat and sad goodbye to his co-workers.

The snow had stopped and the wind wasn't as strong so it was a lot easier for him to walk.

Castiel was waiting for Dean outside Starbucks as he said he would.

He smiled at Dean "hello Dean" he grinned "hey Cas" Dean smiled back "you ready?" He asked "yes" Castiel started walking besides Dean.

It wasn't as cold as the last time they walked but the distance between the two men was still too close as they walked, Cas' hand brushed with Dean's a lot more and their shoulders bumped into each other but neither minded.

They didn't talk at all as they walked. Each just hoped the other would make a move. They never did.

At the restaurant their thighs pressed together but neither dared to move away.

They flirted a lot more this time. They leaded in closer to each other this time. The air between the two was hotter and the tension was higher.

Dean bought them the best food either of them had ever had and the best wine the restaurant had. It was a beautiful date to say the least.

By the end of the night their stomachs were full and the tension was even higher.

The walk back to Castiels was slow, neither wanted to get there because they knew it would mean goodnight.

Dean felt Castiels hand inch closer and closer to his own, smiling fondly, he took his hand and untwined them together.

Castiel blushed but didn't let go.

----
They stood close to each other, hands still together, as they stood outside Cas' apartment.

"Do you wanna come in?" Castiel asked, smiling lightly. "I'd love to" Dean smiled back before Cas dragged him inside.

----
They sat on Castiels sofa, legs untwined, as they slowly drank their coffees.

Dean placed his coffee on the table and turned to Cas. "Can I ask you something" "you just did" Cas smiled "can I asked you another?" He smiled again, Castiel laughed "you did" Dean joined in with laughed and sighed happily "can I ask you two more?" Cas smiled "yes" dean took a deep breath and started in those Blue eyes of his again.

"Will you come to the art exhibition with me next week?" He smiled but watched every facial feature carefully.

"I'd like that, thank you" Cas smiled "really?" Dean asked smiling like the idiot he is "really" Castiel nodded.

---
Dean and Cas spent most of that night watching movies and eating popcorn. And at some point Dean learned that Castiel giggles.

A lot.

So throughout the night Dean tries everything just to hear that giggle over and over again.

Castiel also learnt Dean likes to hear it so he'd giggle at anything and everything, even if it wasn't funny, just to see Dean's face light up.

----
The night ended by the two falling asleep on the sofa with the TV playing softly.

Dean's leaned against the arm rest, his arm draped around Cas' body while His head rested in Dean's lap.

At some point Dean turned the TV off and just watched Castiel for a while, he smiled fondly down at him as he ran his hand through is hair gently.

He would place soft kisses of Castiels face every once in a while too and talk about everything he likes about Cas.

How his eyes were his drug. How the scent Cas gives off is addicting. How his smile is brighter than the sun and stars out together. How Castiel isn't just smart he's word smart, everything he says just sounds smart and amazing. How Castiel can speak more than one language, even ones no one else can because they are so old. How he loves Cas' hair and his hands and he's nose and he's mouth and his eyes.

He talked about his eyes a lot that night.

He did this because he couldn't say it when Castiel was awake. He could never talk about his feelings.

So to say them to Cas without him knowing was a safe place for him.

But then again.

He didn't have to know that Cas was awake the whole time.
