"I don't want to be strangers with someone who has seen my soul"

The microwave's beep shattered my reverie, pulling me back from memories of my past, memories that lingered like a ghostly whisper in my mind. As I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts, I carried the steaming food to Sean, the aroma filling the air and mingling with the tension that hung between us like an unspoken question.

As I walked, Sean's frantic calls reached me, each word laced with desperation and fear. "Yibo! Yibo, where are you?!" His voice cracked, sending a pang through my chest, a reminder of the depth of his emotions. I quickened my pace, my heart racing with every step, every beat echoing the urgency in Sean's voice.

Rounding the corner, I saw Sean rushing down the stairs, his eyes red-rimmed, his face etched with panic, as if the very thought of losing me had shattered his world. Our gazes met, and for a moment, time froze. The world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us, suspended in a sea of uncertainty.

Then, Sean sprinted toward me, embracing me tightly, his arms wrapping around me like a lifeline. "Yibo," Sean whispered, trembling, his voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart. I wrapped my arms around him, holding him close, trying to infuse warmth into his chilled soul.

"I'm here," I reassured, my voice soft, gentle, a soothing balm for his frayed nerves. Sean's grip tightened, his fingers digging into my skin as if he feared I would vanish into thin air. "I thought I lost you," Sean confessed, his voice cracking, his eyes welling up with tears.

My heart swelled, overflowing with emotion. "I won't leave you, Sean," I promised, my words a vow, a sacred oath. "Until destiny separates us," I added, my voice filled with conviction, with the knowledge that our love transcended the boundaries of life and death.

As I held him closer, I felt Sean's tears on my shoulder, warm droplets that seeped into my skin, into my soul. My own eyes stung, threatened to overflow, but I held back, needing to be strong for Sean, for us.

"You need to eat," I said gently, breaking the spell that held us captive. As I fed Sean by hand, our gazes locked, and I saw the same face from the convenience store, the face that had haunted my dreams, my memories.

Sean's eyes drifted, lost in thought, stressed and distracted, and my concern deepened. I knew he needed reassurance, needed to know that I was here, with him, always.

"Hey," I said softly, my voice a gentle prod. "I first saw you in the convenience store," I began, my words spilling out like a confession. "And now I know... it was love at first sight."

Sean's eyes widened, surprise etched on his face, but also curiosity, a desire to understand the depth of my emotions.

"When?" Sean asked, his voice barely above a whisper, his eyes searching mine for answers.

My voice barely above a whisper, I replied, "The day I died... your face was the last thing I saw." Memories flooded me, the bullet, the pain, the darkness, but in that moment, Sean's face shone bright, a beacon in the darkness.

Sean's eyes welled up, tears spilling over, and I knew he understood, understood the depth of my love.

"I just want you to know, Sean," I continued, my voice cracking, "even if I can't come back alive... or remain a ghost... a soul." I paused, taking a deep breath. "I'll always love you."

Sean's lips silenced mine, his kiss tender, filled with emotion. My heart soared, and time stood still. Again.

As we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms, I knew. This love. Transcended life and death. Forever.

"I didn't always say how it feels,
instead I just.......... Write"
