The night before, Nari and Wonwoo had spent some quiet time together, tangled bodies until morning.
With the schedules they both had, moments like these were precious.
Yumni had a special stage the next day, and Seventeen was in the middle of their promotions, so they'd be crossing paths tomorrow for the first time since they've been dating.
Nari felt excited about it, knowing she'd get to see him despite their hectic schedules.
The next day, she arrived at the venue with her members.
The backstage was buzzing with activity, everyone preparing for their respective performances.
As she sat in the dressing room, eating a banana to get some energy, she sent a quick message to Wonwoo.
Wonwoo

Pre-stage banana for strength 💪You look cute even with that banana 😂.
Good luck on stage!
I'll be watching. That stresses me out
Not my intention, want me to not watch?
No...
Watch meSoon it was Yumni turn to go on stage, she was feeling confident and now feeling better about the fact Wonwoo is there watching her live.
And one thing is for sure, they sing live.
When Yumni hit the stage, the energy was palpable. Everything was going well until Nari, mid-performance, stumbled on her heel.
She could feel the sharp twist in her ankle but pushed through, hiding the pain as best as she could.
She knew how important this performance was for the group, and the last thing she wanted was to let her members down.
Her ankle throbbed with each step, but she masked it well enough to finish the performance.
As soon as the final note hit and the group exited the stage, the facade dropped.
The pain in her ankle became unbearable, and she could feel tears welling up in her eyes.
Yuka and Yunhee, who noticed the moment she started limping, rushed over to help her walk offstage.
They wrapped their arms around her, supporting her weight as Nari's face crumpled with pain.
Yunhee whispered, "It's okay, we've got you. Just breathe."
Nari couldn't hold back the tears anymore, the mixture of pain and frustration overwhelming her.
As they helped her along, she barely noticed the worried whispers from the crew around them.
That was when Wonwoo, who had been hanging around backstage with Scoups and Mingyu, caught sight of her.
His heart dropped at the sight of her in pain, and before he could even think, he rushed over.
He didn't care about the eyes around them. In that moment, nothing mattered except her.
Without a second thought, he scooped her up into his arms, ignoring the startled looks from Yuka, Yunhee, and the nearby staff. "I've got you," he murmured softly, trying to calm her down. "I'm here"
Scoups and Mingyu, sensing the situation could easily get out of hand with all the attention, followed closely behind.
Scoups, always the leader, was already thinking damage control, but he didn't blame Wonwoo for reacting the way he did.
His instinct was to protect Nari, and he understood that.
Once they got to a quieter area, Scoups pulled Wonwoo aside. "You need to be careful, not just for you but for her. You know how things are."
Wonwoo, still cradling Nari protectively, nodded. "I know. I just... I didn't think. I couldn't let her walk like that."
Mingyu came up , "Let's just make sure she's okay first. We'll figure the rest out later."
They managed to get Nari to her dressing room without attracting too much attention, though a few people had seen the scene unfold.
As Wonwoo gently set her down on the couch, Nari winced, trying her best to stay composed despite the pain.
She could see the worry etched across his face and felt a pang of guilt for causing him distress.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, tears threatening to spill again.
"Don't be," Wonwoo said softly, brushing her hair away from her face. " how are you?"
"In pain, it's probably just a sprain ankle but it hurts like hell"
"We need to wrap this ok? And then you'll go to a doctor"
Yuka and Yunhee hovered close by, making sure she was comfortable before stepping aside to give the couple some space.
They trusted Wonwoo to take care of her, but the tension in the room was still thick.
Not long after, Mingyu was in his phone when he noticed a photo already trending.
It was Wonwoo carrying Nari , it must been some staff person who took it since it's only staff and idols allowed backstage.
He nudged Scoups, who immediately went into damage control mode. "That's going to be a problem," he muttered.
It didn't take long for fans to piece things together, and soon, speculation ran wild.
The internet was buzzing with rumors about Nari and Wonwoo, and fans were quick to react to the image of Wonwoo carrying her.
Some fans were concerned for Nari's injury, while others couldn't help but wonder about the nature of their relationship.
Back in the dressing room, unaware of the chaos going online, Nari leaned her head on Wonwoo's shoulder, trying to calm her racing heart. "I didn't mean for this to happen," she whispered " I ate and everything"
"I know," he said softly. "It'll be okay. You did good. Fans didn't notice"
As Scoups and Mingyu returned to check on them, the weight of the situation started to settle. The photo was out, and there was no taking it back.
