"NIKA WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO! YOU KNOW WHAT I DO FOR WORK!" Zariah yelled across the living room in her scrubs. "I said I was sorry, I'll make it up to you; I promise."
I knew when she said she promised she always kept it, but I didn't wanna hear that right now.
I rolled my eyes and focused on the tv that was infront of me. I knew I was giving her a hard time, but this was the third time she'd cancelled our date this month alone. And to make matters worse, there was a lot of sexual tension built up inside me.
Z had been working a lot these days and so when she'd get home she was always tired. I'm obviously gonna' let her get some sleep and rest. But you can only do so much by yourself. Between her, my frustration, and my ability to not be playing this season, I was very fucking angry.
"I love you." She muttered, hand on the front door. "Mhm." I hummed. I heard Z sigh before she left. I needed to blow off some steam!
I know that what I was about to do is going against everything I preached. It seemed to be a reoccurring thing. Zariah and I would get into it and then I would leave and go Ivy's house.
The only thing was that I hadn't contacted Ivy in months. My fingers hovered over her contact. I debated on whether to text her or not. I had already cheated on Zariah before and to do it again without her knowledge was just fucked up.
Every time I'd type something, I'd immediately delete it. This went on for minutes before I sighed. Is this really what my life has come to?
I shook my head as I tossed my phone on the seat beside me. No Nika, you need be strong! I had told myself time and time again. I couldn't go back, I needed to clear my mind and forget about all of this.
The gym
The gym was always my escape. I asked Gabby if she would be down to go to the gym with me. She replied and said she'd meet me there. I went upstairs and threw on a shirt and some basketball shorts. I made sure to grab my favorite shoes to hoop in.
Gabby and I would most likely go hoop after our sesh. I packed a small bag with some essentials and head out the door. I threw my bag in the passenger seat before heading to the gym.

Gabby and I walked into the gym, bags on our shoulders and minds set on getting a good sweat. Gabby and I put our bags in a locker before heading out to the main floor.
Gabby was set on doing leg day while I wanted to focus more on my upper body. Gabby mentioned that she liked to stretch before every workout, so I decided to join her.
"How's Zariah?"
I was silent for a moment; I cleared my throat, "She's good; busy with work and stuff." Gabby paused and glanced at me, "You don't seem so sure about that." I stifled a laugh. "I am! She's actually at work right now. We're doing good!"
Gabby hummed before continuing to stretch her hamstring. I also dropped the conversation and began to focus on stretching. The timer went off signaling the end of our session. Gabby and I split up going to different sides of the gym as we wanted to focus on different things.
About an hour and a half later, we were both done and ready to go hoop. Luckily, the gym we were at had a court inside of it. Gabs and I made our way into the locker room to grab our stuff. We headed towards the court with grins on our faces.
We stepped onto the court going over to the few benches they had. We both sat down and began to put on our basketball shoes. "Don't you just love basketball! It's so therapeutic!" Gabby gushed. I laughed at her before nodding. "Yea, I agree. It's my everything. Anytime I need to be grounded, this is where I am."
A hum escaped from Gabby's mouth as she agreed. She finished lacing up her shoes before she joined me out on the court. She bounced the ball she brought from home. "Let's play horse as a lil' warmup."
I wasn't opposed to the idea of it, so I agreed. It was always fun to play a little game. One by one, we both went, trying to up the other. Gabby ended up loosing to me and I was very happy about that. She was talking trash the whole time.
After our horseplay sesh, we ended up having a one on one game. First to twelve would be the winner. Gabby insisted that she'd win this time.
It was nice to breathe and have my mind taken off all of my problems. I didn't wanna' think about what happened earlier with Z or what almost happened with Ivy. For now, this was all I needed.
