Trigger warnings: self harm, vague mentions of domestic abuse, under age drinking

The smut is in the flash back. It's shorter in this chapter.

*Puppy's POV*

The cold breeze runs through my bones and beats against my face. The wind rakes her fingers through my hair and up my thighs as I peel down the dirt hill. My bike jumps under me, flying for a moment as I round up again. I pedal until my legs are a separate entity, a violent one who has a place to be. I physically can't handle going slow anywhere. I love the way it jump charges my soul.

The wheels of my rusty mountain bike squeal as I kick up a wave of dirt up as I jump off my bike. It flies sideways into the tree it always does. The tree has a dent in it from my less than gental landing. Kai and I first noticed it six years ago. I have a dopey smile plastered on my face as I rush up the steps to Kai's family's trailer. I don't even knock when Connor opens the door. He's Kai's little brother and mine too if I do say so myself.

He blows out a huge bubble with his bubble gum as he looks up at me. He didn't inherit Kai's beautiful tawny hair. Connor has jet black hair and gun medal gray eyes he lines with eyeliner. I'm surprised he's not decked out in a full face of makeup since he usually is regardless if he's in the presence of people. "Mornin'. Where's Kai?" He looks past me as he crosses his arms. Why is he asking me?

"He's not there?" Connor shakes his head and walks back inside. I plop down on the couch next to him and Connor gives me a coy smile I know I'm not gonna like.

"He didn't come home last night. I thought he was at yours. Hoped you finally got over yourself and confessed your undying love," he smirks as I cringe. Connor knows I'm in love with Kai and takes every opportunity to tease me about it. He didn't come home? Oh god. Is he okay? Was murdered? He doesn't do this shit. "Maybe he got with that girl he's been blabbering on about," he says offhandedly. My chest constricts and he notices. He squeezes my bicep and gives me an apologetic smile. Now I can't get the thought out of my head. "No offense, but he could never pull her. I'm just joking, he's all yours," I nod. It's okay.

The sound of a car pulling up has Connor hopping off the couch and opening the door. When I walk over I look right over Connor's head at a car. He's tiny for a senior. Kai is short too, but he's not that short. The car has a distinct Uber sticker behind the windshield. When Kai's tawny hair pokes out over the top I can practically feel Connor preparing his scolding. Uber's are fucking expensive. My heart drops when Kai looks over at us with a beaming smile. He's got a poorly covered hickey up his collar bone and up his neck. God, was she trying to eat him? He was with her. I gulp.

*Kitty's POV*

I bounce out of the Uber goddes- Valentina called for me. I hope it wasn't too expensive. I know they're gonna make fun of me but I'm too damn happy. The cold breeze hits me, curling against the hickey I'm sure is visible. Or maybe it's Noah's blank stare that chills me. His shaggy brown falls in his eyes, I should probably cut it again. Connor's got his hands on his hips, a scowl that looks more like a pout plastered on his face and a glare I think is meant to kill me but he's more like an angry little kitty— oh. That word is ruined forever now.

My face heats and Noah's eyes narrow a fraction. "I didn't pay for the Uber," I say before Connor can scold me. He still looks angry. I'm so confused. I don't what I did or didn't do. Connor rolls his eyes and just walks back inside.  Noah migrates to his natural habitat, which is with his head stuck in the sweets cabinet. It's impressive how he's got such a nice build, lean but strong, because his diet consists of 90% pure sugar.
