The harsh fluorescent lights of the upscale boutique made Jeongin's eyes hurt. He scowled, shoving his hands deeper into the pockets of his leather jacket. The store, with its pastel color scheme and cheerful pop music, was the last place he'd usually be caught dead in. But for Seungmin, he was willing to endure it.
"Remind me again why we're here?" Minho whined, trailing behind Jeongin and Chan.
Jeongin shot him a glare. "Because prin- because Seungmin needs birthday presents. Now shut up and help me look."
Chan snickered, elbowing Minho. "Did you catch that? He almost said 'princess' again."
"I did not," Jeongin growled, but the tips of his ears turned pink.
Minho raised an eyebrow. "Now that Chan mentions it, you do always call Seungmin 'princess'. What's up with that?"
Jeongin busied himself with a rack of clothes, pretending not to hear. But Minho wasn't letting it go.
"Seriously, Jeongin. I don't think I've ever heard you use Seungmin's actual name. It's always 'princess' this and 'princess' that."
"I don't know what you're talking about," Jeongin muttered, but his face was flushed. "Now are you going to help or just stand there looking pretty?"
Minho and Chan exchanged knowing looks but dropped the subject. They knew pushing Jeongin too far would only result in him shutting down completely.
Jeongin moved through the racks with surprising efficiency, his eyes scanning for items that screamed 'Seungmin'. He pulled out a delicate Gucci blouse in soft cream, its collar adorned with tiny pearls. "This," he said decisively, adding it to the cart.
Next came a Prada pleated skirt in pastel blue. Jeongin held it up, imagining how it would look on Seungmin. "This too," he nodded, tossing it in.
"Hey, what about this?" Chan held up an oversized Balenciaga sweater in a soft shade of pink.
Jeongin nodded approvingly. "Good eye. Throw it in the cart. Get a few more in different colors."
As they moved to the coquette section, Minho raised an eyebrow. "Didn't peg Seungmin as the type for this stuff."
"There's a lot you don't know about Seungmin," Jeongin smirked, adding several items to their already overflowing cart. A lacy Dolce & Gabbana crop top, a pair of high-waisted shorts with heart-shaped buttons, and knee-high socks with little bows joined the pile.
"Jesus, Jeongin," Chan muttered, eyeing the growing collection. "You sure about all this? It's... a lot."
Jeongin paused, his hand hovering over a Chanel hair clip shaped like a butterfly. "You think it's too much?" For a moment, uncertainty flashed across his face.
Minho stepped in, placing a hand on Jeongin's shoulder. "Hey, if you think Seungmin will like it, then go for it. It's his birthday, after all."
Jeongin nodded, his resolve strengthening. He added the hair clip to the cart. "You're right. Seungmin deserves it."
