I woke up still upset about what happened yesterday. After I saw them kissing, I went to my room and didn't come out. I even went to bed hungry because I was still angry about what I saw.
I heard three knocks, so I got up and opened the door. There was Hailey, standing there with a frown on her face. 'Why is she frowning?' I thought to myself.
'Shouldn't I be the one angry? After all, she let someone else kiss her. No, scratch that—she kissed someone else.'
"You didn't eat last night, and now you won't come out? Are you sick?" she asked.
'Yes, my heart is sick because you kissed someone else.' I said to myself.
"Hey, I'm asking you something. Answer me!" Why is her voice so soft and sweet? Is she trying to seduce me? Because if she is... well, it's working. My little buddy down there is awake. "Are you sick?"
"No, go to your Enrique." I replied, sulking.
"Enrique? What does he have to do with this?"
"Tss. What do you want?"
"You."
All my irritation vanished in an instant because of that one word.
"Me?"
"Yes, you. That's why I'm here."
"What do you need from me?"
"We need to discuss something important."
"Tss. And here I thought... What is it?"
"Oh, just take this and sign it." She handed me... annulment papers. Again.
"What is this now?" I asked with a furrowed brow. "Aren't you tired of giving these to me?"
"Don't throw it away this time. Keep it, so when you finally think things through, you can sign it."
"Sign it, huh!" I showed her exactly what I thought of those papers by tearing them into pieces and blowing the shreds in the air.
"Phoenix..."
"You can't be with anyone else—not even Enrique." I pulled her inside and shut the door. "No annulment. No separation. You're mine, I'm yours. Period." I pushed her gently against the wall.
"Phoenix, what are you doing...?" She tried to push me away weakly, but I pressed her harder.
"See, I'm wearing my wedding ring again, and you're still wearing yours. We're married for real."
"Where did you get that?"
"Secret. But remember, you're mine." I kissed her. At first, she resisted, but then she kissed me back. I slid my hands to her shoulders, trying to lower her dress, but she grabbed my hand.
"Wait..."
"What?"
"Your lips taste like blood."
She touched my lips, which were split from yesterday's punch. She looked at me with concern. That bastard punched me and then kissed my wife—what a joke.
"What happened to your lips? Did you treat them?" she asked. Our kiss had probably pressed on the wound, causing it to bleed.
"No, just kiss me again, and the pain will go away." I puckered my lips, but she turned her face away.
"Phoenix, I'm not joking. Isn't this what you wanted? To separate from me?"
"That was before. I don't want that anymore." I kissed her neck.
"Why?"
"Because I don't want to lose you." I kissed her cheek.
"Are you playing with me?" she asked, sounding irritated but still gentle.
