"Grandpa, who is she?" I asked my grandpa when I saw him with a little girl. She was shy, hiding behind him. She's beautiful—her eyes, her lips, her nose—everything about her was just perfect.

"She's Hailey, Phoenix. She's your Grandpa Leon's granddaughter. He passed away last week, so Hailey will be living with us now. Be nice to her, okay? She's like family to us now."

'Family? I don't want her to be my family. I want her to be my wife someday. I want us to be like mom and dad.'

"Yes, Grandpa."

"Hailey, sweetie, this is Phoenix, my grandson. He'll be your playmate here, alright?" She nodded shyly, holding Grandpa's hand.

"Come on, Hailey, I want to show you something." I grabbed her hand and led her to my room, showing her my toys. Her hands were so soft, and I liked holding them.

"Are these your toys?" she asked.

"Yes, and I'll let you play with them."

"Really?" I nodded and held her hand again. Her hands were really soft.

"See," I said, handing her my Optimus Prime robot. "You can play with him. He's my first robot and my favorite. You can come to my room anytime to play, but don't play with anyone else, okay? Only me."

"Why? There are lots of other kids outside."

"Because I'm the only one with toys here. They don't have any."

"Okay." I didn't want her playing with other kids. What if they thought she was pretty too? No one else should see how beautiful she is, only me.

"Can I call you Nix?" she asked.

Dad always said that when someone gives you a nickname, it means you're special to them. It's like they're giving you a part of themselves, a connection that keeps you close forever.

"Sure, I'll call you Hail too." She smiled at me. Her smile was the sweetest I'd ever seen.

"Nix, thank you for being my friend."

"My pleasure, Hail."

Hailey and I became good friends. We were always together, playing. I was so happy whenever she was around. At school, I was always excited to come home to see her. She was shy, so Grandpa decided to homeschool her. That was good because it meant no one else would see her but me.

We always played in my room, and sometimes in hers. I loved hearing her laugh, and her smile was everything to me.

"Hail, when I grow up, I'll marry you, and we'll have lots of babies. You're alone, and I'm alone too, so when we get married, we'll have a big family."

"You'll marry me?"

"Yes, I'll marry you." She smiled and looked down.

And I meant every word. When I grow up, she will be my wife.

I was so excited to go home because I had something to tell Hail. I won a contest at school, and I wanted her to be the first to know. When I entered the mansion, I heard her laughing.

Why was she laughing? Who was making her laugh? It should only be me. Only I should make her laugh.

I went to the kitchen and saw her with some other kids. They were helping the housekeeper, Manang Tasing, and it looked like they were having fun.

"Hi, Nix!"

"Tss!" I ignored her and walked away. I thought she would follow me, but she didn't. That made me even angrier. She should have followed me and apologized for playing with other kids. She should have hugged me because I was jealous.

The next day, she didn't come near me anymore. Manang said she was scared because I was mad at her. But she wasn't too scared to play with other kids?

All I wanted was for her to come to me, talk to me, and make things right. I wanted her to say those kids were just friends and that she'd still marry me when we grew up. I wanted all her attention. Only I should notice her, and no one else.

I hate her now. I hate her because she doesn't love me. I hate her because it's okay for her that we're not talking. I won't marry her anymore because she broke my heart. She didn't love me like I loved her. She chose other kids over me. I thought she was happy when I said I'd marry her, but I guess not. She broke my heart, and I hate her.

I laughed hard remembering all of this. I don't know why it all came back to me now. I was such a stupid kid, thinking I was mad at her for stealing attention from me. But I was just jealous. I've been possessive of her since the beginning.

"Are you getting married, or why are you laughing so much?" Dane asked.

"Sorry, I just remembered something." Everyone around the table looked at me because I had laughed so loudly.

Today is Blaze and Maggie's wedding, and the whole gang is here. Blaze didn't have a choice since he lost a bet with Maggie, which is why they're getting married. Now the talk is about who will file for annulment first or who will fall in love first.

It's a simple beach wedding—nothing fancy. It's the kind you see in movies, but without an entourage. No one is walking down the aisle, not even Maggie, because she didn't want that.

They're just sitting in front, waiting for the priest to arrive. They even bought a house together, and whoever files for the annulment first will lose the house to the other. But I think this is more about pride now, not money. I'm just here to support whatever happens.

Blaze didn't tell his parents about the wedding. As for Maggie, her mom died when she was 15, and she didn't mention anything to her dad. She has one sister, Margot, who's quite dramatic. She cries a lot, which is the complete opposite of Maggie, who's tough.

"The wedding's about to start," Dane said as the priest arrived. The priest was handsome. Too bad he became a priest, but of course, the four of us are better looking—and younger too.

The ceremony was quick and simple. They signed the papers, and the priest announced them as husband and wife.

Blaze didn't have much of a choice but to kiss Maggie.

"When we get married again after you give birth to the triplets, I want a beach wedding too." I said, placing my hand on Hailey's five-month baby bump. Yes, our first kids are triplets.

"I'm fine with our first wedding, Nix. What matters to me is that we're together forever."

"Next time, we'll aim for twins."

"As long as I can handle it, why not? I love you, Nix."

"I love you more, Hail. My first and now my last."

I'll make sure she never gets hurt because of me. I'll protect her and stay by her side forever, because she's the only one I need.
