"How to court a woman?"
"How to make a woman fall for you?"
I tried searching on Google for information on how to court my wife. But I kept getting the same answer: "Show her your interest in marrying her." But how am I supposed to win her over? We're already married, so what about showing interest in marrying her?
"Damn," I hissed. What do people do when courting someone? Never mind... I'll court her in my own Phoenix way.
"Phoenix..." I looked up at Hailey and quickly put my phone back in my pocket. I was on the veranda, where Grandpa usually lounges when he's sleepy. Now it's my turn to hang out here, trying to get drowsy.
"Hmm?"
"I'm about to go to bed. I just wanted to check if you need anything."
"You."
"Phoenix..."
"You're what I need."
"Stop it." She blushed, and even though it was a bit dark, I could still see it. See, that's how you court a woman. "If there's nothing else you need, I'll head inside."
"You're the one I want to be inside of." I don't need Google to tell me how to court my wife. I have my own ways to make her fall for me.
"I'm going in—" She didn't finish her sentence because I pulled her onto my lap. My shaft hardened, and I knew she felt it.
"Just seeing you wakes this up." I kissed her shoulder, and I saw her close her eyes.
"Phoenix, I'm on my period."
"Damn!"
"Sorry."
"No, it's okay." I gently stroked her shoulder, trailing my hand downward.
"Phoenix, don't do that, it makes my period flow heavier."
"Why?" I asked. Why does her period get worse? I'm just touching her.
"Just because... and let me go before I stain your shorts."
"Why are you so beautiful?"
"Huh?"
"Are you really human or an angel who fell to earth?"
I will never get tired of kissing her, anywhere, anytime.
"Phoenix, stop."
"How do I stop?"
"I'm going to bed."
"Let's sleep together." Ever since we moved here, we haven't slept in the same room because she refuses to share a bed. But that's okay. I know I'll get to sleep beside her eventually. Not just as a wife on paper but as my real wife. Luckily, the house staff doesn't ask why we have separate rooms.
"No," she answered.
"Why not?"
"Because you're a pervert, and all you do is kiss and kiss." I laughed and kissed her lips.
"But you're my wife, so it's okay for me to kiss you whenever I want."
"I haven't even answered you yet."
"You will answer me, I'm sure of it."
"Phoenix..." she scolded when I touched her chest. She tried to stand, but I pulled her back down.
"My period's getting heavier. If you don't stop, I'll take off my pad and stick it on your face, just you wait." I laughed again.
"That's fine, I eat dinuguan."
"You're disgusting!" She hit my chest because of what I said. "Phoenix..."
"Hmm?" She took a deep breath.
"I'm really sleepy now."
"Can you stay with me for a while?" I hugged her and took out my phone.
"Phoenix..."
"Damn, I might be cheesy, but can we listen to this song before we sleep?"
"What song?"
"I just heard it earlier, and it reminded me of you." I played the song, hugged her, and we listened together.
(Song lyrics play: The Only One by Lionel Richie)
When the song ended, I looked at Hailey.
"Hailey, I don't know how to woo you, court you, or even apologize to you. I don't know how to be sweet or what to do to make you believe that I need you and that you're the only one I want. All I know is that I want to spend my whole life with you, grow old with you, and die with you."
"Phoenix..."
"I won't push you right now. I'll wait until you're ready. And when that time comes, I'll make sure you won't regret coming back to me. Anyway, you never left, and I won't ever let that happen."
"I just want you to be happy, Phoenix."
"You are my happiness, Hailey. I can't ask for anything more as long as you're with me." She didn't respond, so I kissed her forehead.
"Come on, let's go inside. It's getting cold." We walked inside together. I walked her to her room, but before she could enter, I went in first and pulled her with me.
"Hey!" she yelled when I shut the door and hugged her. "Phoenix!"
"I will never get tired of hugging and kissing you, Hailey." I kissed her passionately, and she kissed me back. We were both breathless when we pulled apart.
"Phoenix, please stop," she pleaded when I caressed her shoulder.
"Why?"
"My period's getting heavier." I frowned at what she said.
"What's the connection?" She didn't answer and avoided my gaze. "Hey?"
"I like what you're doing." She blushed as she said that.
Wait... "You mean... you're getting turned on by what I'm doing?"
"Whatever, Phoenix. Get out." I laughed when I realized she was affected by what I was doing.
"You're not the only one, Hailey. I'm affected too."
"It's not allowed," she scolded.
"So when your period's over, it's allowed?"
"Still no."
"But you said..." I teased. "Hailey..."
"What now?" She frowned again, and damn, she was cute when she did that.
"Can you call me Nix?" She used to call me Nix when we were kids. That's why I don't like it when anyone else calls me that because it always reminds me of her.
"Huh?"
"Call me Nix."
"But didn't you say you hated it when I called you Nix?"
"I changed my mind. Will you?"
"O-okay, N-Nix." Damn! Why is it so sexy when she calls me by that name?
"Alright, go to sleep." I kissed her forehead and headed to the door. But I stopped and looked at her.
"What do you need now?"
"You're the only one I need, Hailey."
"Nix?"
"I mean it. Goodnight." I gave her a quick kiss before leaving.
