The sun filtered through the dense canopy of leaves, casting a mottled pattern of light and shadow on the forest floor as Erza Scarlet and Naomi walked cautiously through the underbrush.
The scent of damp earth and rich foliage filled the air, mingling with the distant sound of trickling water. Despite the looming sense of uncertainty surrounding them, Erza's spirit remained unbroken.
What do you think is on the other side of this forest?" Erza mused, her red hair flowing behind her like a banner of hope.
Before Naomi could respond, a voice echoed in her mind, deep and resonant, like the rumble of distant thunder. Naomi, pay attention. This world is not the one you know. Konoha, the Elemental Nations—none of that exists here.
Naomi halted mid-step, confusion flooding her thoughts. Kurama? Is that you? she replied mentally, glancing around as if the words might manifest into a tangible form.
Yes, Kurama answered, his tone steady and reassuring. We are in an entirely different universe. This place holds no ties to your past life.
Naomi's brow furrowed as she processed Kurama's revelation. She'd felt estranged from the familiar since they arrived, but to find out the very fabric of her reality had unraveled completely was disorienting. But... where are we? she wondered, a hundred questions swirling in her mind.
Before Kurama could respond, Erza's excited voice broke through. "Look, Onee-san! A village!" She pointed eagerly through the trees, where the outlines of buildings emerged, their roofs peeking through the greenery like shy creatures.
Finally!" Naomi exclaimed, relief washing over her. "Let's get there."
As they approached the village, the familiar noises of civilization reached their ears—laughter, the chatter of townsfolk, the clanging of metal from nearby workshops. It felt foreign yet strangely comforting.
Once they reached the marketplace, Naomi spotted a clothes store, its display filled with vibrant fabrics and garish colors. "We should get you some clothes," Naomi suggested, tilting her head at Erza. "You can't wander around in that worn down clothes all the time."
Erza agreed, her eyes lighting up at the prospect of new attire. They entered the shop, and as Erza headed to the fitting rooms, Naomi grinned, already picturing what styles her surrogate little sister might choose.
While Erza changed, Naomi took the opportunity to rummage through her bag. She pulled out some valuable items—shards of crystals and small trinkets she had scavenged from the ruins of the Tower of Heaven. It was barely enough to buy what they needed, but they had little choice.
Moments later, Erza emerged from the changing room, wearing a deep blue dress that accentuated her figure perfect. it was simple yet elegant, with white lace trimming around the sleeves. She twirled lightly, her hair flowing like a river, beaming with satisfaction. "What do you think Onee-san?"
It looks amazing on you!" Naomi replied enthusiastically. "You've really got the look down!"
Erza smiled widely, feeling fresh and invigorated in her new attire. "Thank you! Now, let's find out more about this place."
Naomi nodded and approached a friendly-looking woman nearby who was selling fruits. "Excuse me," she said politely. "Can you tell me where the Fairy Tail Guild is located?"
The woman looked up with a smile, wiping her hands on her apron. "Ah, Fairy Tail! You're in luck! It's in Magnolia, a three-hour boat ride from here."
Thank you so much!" Naomi exclaimed, her heart racing with excitement at the prospect of reaching Fairy Tail.
As the woman returned to her work, Naomi joined Erza outside. "We need to head to the docks. We can catch a boat to Magnolia!"
Erza nodded eagerly, adjusting the straps of her new dress. "Lead the way!"
The two sisters made their way through the bustling streets of the village, the noise and energy lifting their spirits. As they approached the docks, the salty air brushed against their faces, and the sound of waves lapping at the shore filled their ears. With each step toward their destination, the lingering uncertainty about their future began to dissipate, replaced by the thrill of adventure and the promise of camaraderie awaiting them in Magnolia.
Together, they would brave this new world, bound by their determination to find their place within it—and perhaps, just perhaps, bring a little magic back into their lives.
