Bakugou had been the one to scream out the electric hero's name. Hanta was passed out from the pain in his disintegrated leg, Aizawa was too far from the main action to see what was going on, and Izuku was frozen in place. He was unable to move as he watched his own flames devour the two men in front of him.
He'd killed a pro hero, a good hero. For all his posturing and threats, he'd never actually done that. He wondered if he was officially too far gone. Not even Hanta could forgive him this time.
"Stop it, Deku! You're killing him!"
Izuku was thrust back to reality, his quirk blipping out of existence after a strained moment of concentration. Blaze had fought him on it, wanting to make sure there was nothing left of Shigaraki before he went back to his owner, but eventually conceded.
Before Izuku could move, there was a body on him, pushing him to the ground and throwing fist after fist into his face. "You fucking psychopath!" Bakugou spat, his hits unrelenting. "I vouched for you, and you fucking killed him!"
With the last of his strength, Izuku powered up One For All, throwing the distressed hero off of him as if he were swatting a fly away. "I can save him!" he shouted back, springing to his feet and running for the charred bodies on the street.
He didn't make it far, swept off his feet by Bakugou diving into his back. "Don't fucking touch him!"
Izuku used one of his stored quirks, Detect Life, to make sure the golden-haired hero was still breathing. There was a heartbeat, but it was faint. He had minutes, seconds maybe, to get to him before it was too late to fix what he'd done. "I can save him, Kacchan," he insisted, too tired to properly fight back this time. Blaze had really done a number on him, and he knew it wouldn't be long before he passed out from exhaustion. "Just like I saved Emiko, but I need to get to him now."
"Why the fuck should I trust you?" the hero snapped, one arm wrapped around Izuku's neck, successfully holding him in a headlock.
"Because that wasn't me," Izuku cried, trying in vain to pull the arm away from his throat. "I'd never be that reckless, and you know it. Come on, Kacchan. You know me."
For three terrifying seconds, no one moved. Izuku thought for sure Bakugou would try to snap his neck instead, but then the grip slowly loosened.
"Save his life, or I'll blow you into bits so small no quirk will be able to stitch you back together," Bakugou hissed, roughly pushing Izuku toward the downed hero.
Izuku wasn't scared of the threat, but didn't need to be told twice. Bakugou wasn't the pro hero he was worried about.
He dropped to his knees at Kaminari's side, the man so burnt he was almost beyond recognition. "I'm so sorry," he whispered, his hands hovering over the hero's chest for a moment before he pushed them down. Kaminari was still alive enough to let out a strangled scream, which was a good sign.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Bakugou shouted, rushing to Izuku's side. He was ready to throw the villain back, but Izuku clenched his eyes shut and shook his head.
"Transferring quirks isn't easy for me, so shut the fuck up and let me concentrate," he hissed, focusing all of his remaining consciousness and strength on moving Resurrection from himself to Kaminari.
A small gasp left Kaminari's mangled mouth as a soft, off-white glow moved from Izuku's hand to the hero's chest.
"His body is still intact, this should work," Izuku mumbled, looking down at the half-dead man in front of him.
"Should work? You're telling me you don't even know?" Bakugou growled, grabbing Izuku roughly by the shoulder and forcing the shorter man to face him.
