Chapter 8: Let's Get Testin'

Jace’s POV:

@School:

I got out of Alvaro’s car as usual, and on walking into the school, the first thing, or should I say people, I saw were Richie A and his friends. I started to get cold feet about the whole thing. Why is he outside? Wasn’t he sentenced to like three weeks in detention? What is he doing there? All these questions and more flashed through my mind as I walked past him. Luckily, after escaping him, I saw Nikki and Chase chatting.

“Hey, y’all!”, I greeted.

“Hey, what’s up?”, Nikki answered.

“What’s up is bad news.”, I said.

Just then, Cam and Syd walked in together.

“And we welcome the newlyweds. Bam-bam-bam-bam.”, Chase said while improvising on an intro tune.

“Whatever. I’ve gotten sick of your teasing anyway.”, said Cam.

“By the way, did you get Alvaro to drive us to the arcade?”, Syd, Alvaro’s fangirl, asked.

Yeah, about that, I have bad news.”, I said.

“What? Why? Did anything happen to him?”, Syd worriedly asked.

“No, he’s fine. It’s just that he’s leaving town next weekend, so he won’t be able to take us there.”, I said.

“NO!!!!”, she yelled.

“Yeah, that’s a big bummer.”, Nikki said.

“I already had some things in mind we could try at the arcade.”, said Chase.

“Well, it’s not all bad, Alvaro said we could come hang out at my place. I mean, his place.”, I said.

“Really? Then it’s not all bad.”, said Cam.

“Yeah, it’s okay, but Alvaro won’t be there.”, Syd said pouting.

“Yeah, he won’t. but he did say y’all can come next Thursday so that he can meet you.”, I said.

“AAAHHH!!! Really? I get to meet and talk to Alvaro!!”, she yelled.

All eyes turned to her as she screamed. Even some students around us were shocked by the scream. Immediately, coming back to her senses, she sat down quietly and faced us back.

“Normally, I should be concerned about your liking my brother, but a part of me really wants to see this drama play out.”, I said.

“For real, I’m with that side of you that wants to see the drama. Cam?”, Chase said.

“Whatever, dude.”, Cam said. Chase had been teasing Cam for far too long. Does Cam really like Syd? Whatever. All I knew was time to get him a taste of his own medicine.

“Hey, Cam, don’t you also find it suspicious that before we came in, only Nikki and Chase were here?”, I began.

“Yeah. Maybe they were….”, Syd continued before Chase interrupted.

“Shut up!”, he said with a cute fuming tone.

“Chase and Nikki sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G, Ha!”, Syd said, this time targeting Nikki.

“Quit it!”, Nikki yelled.

“Not so funny when you’re the butt of the joke, is it?”, Cam said facing Chase.

“Whatever, just shut it.”, Chase spat.

“Before you kill each other, do remember that we have class in about 5 minutes.”, I said.
