August 22nd 1866

Dear journal,

I can't wait to come back home and see big brother Switzy again! I'm so excited to finally be able to make him some homemade Rösti! Or even make him a new frilly nightwear perhaps? I'm so excited!

Sadly, Austria lost... but none of my 80 troops were injured so, I'm gonna settle and be happy with that! We were mainly in this war for defence purposes in the Tyrolean Alps anyways.

I wish I could've just stayed by Switzy's side, just like he wanted me to; it makes me really anxious to see Austria in such a state. Will that fate ever happen to me? Will big brother be there to protect me if it ever were to happen? I'm terrified.

I kind of panicked on the field this morning and couldn't get a hold of myself. I won't ever tell Switzy what happened because I don't want him to worry too much about me, but to be honest I wish he were there to comfort me.

But somehow, I met Italy there. Even though we were ennemies in this war, he gave me a hand.

He said he couldn't believe such a young girl like me had so much responsibility to shoulder during this war. He praised me saying that I was doing great with what I had to deal with.

He promised to teach me how the paint when we'll be out of this war. He promised to take me to one of his famous cafes in Florence. He promised me he'd be my friend.

I've never had any friends besides Switzy, so I'm really happy!

He told me about the beauty of Venice, he told me about his prime minister's (Alphonso La Marmora's) silly facial hair, he told me about how he dressed as a maid when he was a kid.

He's an odd guy, but I know he means well.

To thank him for making me feel better about this whole situation, I invited him over to my place tomorrow. By then, the treaty will be signed and this war will finally come to an end.

He accepted.

It's ironic, I went to war with 80 soldiers and I'll end up coming back with 81. I can't help but chuckle a little at that thought.
