Scott's Perspective-

Two Weeks Later-

Scott was eating lunch with his friend group when Jimmy walked up to him.

"Hey Scott, may I talk to you for a second?"

"Oh uh- sure." Scott turned around to face him.

"I...was wondering if you...wanted to, I don't know, go out sometime?" Jimmy scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and cocked a smile.

Scott's face fell and he froze up.

His friends quickly looked away, neither knowing what to do or say.

"I- I'm sorry, I can't."

"You...can't?" Jimmy tried to laugh, confused.

"You're a good guy, Jimmy. It's my fault, I just...I'm a terrible person." Scott looked like he was about to cry and he was picking at his nails until one started to bleed.

Jimmy's eyes widened.

"A-are you okay? And what do you mean? You're a wonderful guy." Jimmy took a step towards Scott, who stepped back.

He tripped over his bag and fell back, his tray of food getting all over his clothes.

Some kids stopped talking to watch and they laughed.

Scott saw his friends try and shout at them but he just ran.

-

Scott sat in the nurse's office, listening as the nurse called his mother. He had lied and said it was vomit on his clothes to go home early.

"Feel better soon, sweetie." The nurse said, patting his back and giving him a bag.

"Thanks." Scott smiled weakly.

The nurse walks to her desk and Scott sighs, laying down on the cot. He stares up at the ceiling and shuts his eyes.

Maybe if I think hard enough this will all just be a dream.

He sighs and opens his eyes again, seeing that it had only been three minutes.

He grumbled, wishing time could go faster. Wishing this never happened. Wishing he could go back in time and fix everything.

Wishing he could...fix what happened with Sora.

Scott turned and faced the wall. He traced a pattern of hearts on it with his finger, old memories playing in his head.

-

"We could ruin the friendship we have, though. I don't wanna risk it." Scott sighed, pulling his hands away. He didn't wanna lie and say he really didn't have many feelings for him.

"But we could make it work! I...I know we can." Sora smiled encouragingly and held Scott's hand.

Scott looked up at him and he hesitated before nodding.

"And if it doesn't, we can always stay as friends." Sora reassured.

"You promise?"

"Promise."

-

Scott looked out the window as his mother drove him home.

I can't believe I believed him. Of course it wouldn't work. When people break up it's messy as frick.

Scott sighs and he turns to his mother.

"Thanks." He said in a quiet voice.

"Of course, dear. How are you feeling? Any better?"

"My stomach still hurts."

"We'll get you some medicine when we get home."

"Okay." Scott nods.

Scott checked his phone and saw he had a line of messages from Jimmy. He hit ignore and shoved his phone back in his pocket.

The Next Day-

"Scott, you need to get outside at least a bit. It would be better than staying cooped up all day."

Scott grumbled and got up. He had convinced his parents to let him stay home but his mother was persistent in making him touch grass.

Scott grabbed his hoodie and shoes and walked outside. He took a stroll to the park and saw a dog run up to him.

Scott looked down and it barked, wanting to grab the stick he was standing on.

"Oh- here." Scott picked it up and gave it to them.

The dog barked and licked Scott's hand.

Scott giggled and pat it's head.

"Aww, you're just a sweetheart, aren't you?" He smiles, "Well I appreciate it. My days have been rough."

"Meri! Come here!"

Scott looked up as the dog ran to her owner. He saw Joel walk over.

Joel blinked when he saw Scott and Scott smiled shyly.

"H-hi." Scott stuttered.

"Sup."
