Kirishima walked with Katsuki down the bustling street. The sun was high in the sky, heat beating down on the two. Katsuki's hands were stuffed into his pockets as the two walked in silence. The tension between them was thick enough to cut. Kirishima studied the various shop signs as they walked past them, desperately trying to find a way to relieve said tension. Katsuki had been on edge all week, Kirishima hated seeing his best friend like this.
"We should shop here sometime, it's nice here"
Katsuki didn't reply, he was focused on the crowd of idiots that they had to weave their way through as they patrolled.
"Bakubro? You gonna mope all day?"
"Shut it, shitty hair"
"I'm just sayin'.. hey! this would be a good date spot. There are a lot of cafes here! There's even a bakery over the-"
"I said shut up!"
Kirishima quickly shut his mouth. His attempt to lighten the mood was obviously not working. He waited for Katsuki to start the conversation this time.
"I can't wait for rush hour to be fucking over"
"Do you want to go patrol somewhere less busy?"
"That would be fucking nice"
Kirishima turned down a street that seemed less busy, Katsuki following not far behind. He hoped the change of scenery would put his friend in a better mood. Rows of houses and tall buildings surrounded them. It was quieter. Less people roamed the street, most staying near their respective houses.
"Did you hear Mirio and Tamaki are finally a marked pair? I'm happy for them!"
"Good for them"
"I know! They've been together for soo long, I was honestly surprised to hear they finally- Bakugo?"
Kirishima stopped and looked behind him. His friend had suddenly stopped walking and was standing completely still. They had walked a good ways onto the street, the only people around were ones tending to their yards or ones sitting on their front porch.
"Kirishima!"
Katsuki propelled himself into the air using small explosions from his hands, he reached out to Kirishima who quickly took hold of his hand. He was pulled from the ground when a green substance oozed into view where the two stood. The ground sizzled and popped as a figure slowly formed from the puddle that appeared. Katsuki and Kirishima landed a few feet away and both stood awaiting the villains next move, quirks at the ready.
"Filthy heroes..."
The villain stood and turned to them, the ground was smoking where they had originally emerged. Kirishima quickly tuned into his headpiece. He needed to inform backup, their quirks were not suited for water type quirks.
"Villian spotted in- where are we, Bakugo?"
A wave of green acid was thrown in Kirishima's direction. Katsuki quickly propelled himself to shove his friend out of the way, nearly missing the acid that was thrown.
"Pay attention, dumbass!"
The villain gave them no time to bicker, he quickly threw shot after shot of acid at the two heroes in front of him
"How dare you bring your filth to my sacred home, die!"
"Do not approach him, Kirishima! That's acid, your hardening can not stand against him!" Katsuki was distracted; he was worried about his friend. Kirishima didn't like standing around and waiting for backup, he preferred to run head first into every fight. Regardless of his worrying, Kirishima knew he wouldn't stand a chance against acid.
