Jaja leaned forward, her expression growing more serious. "Then why did you break up with her?" Seline sighed again, deeper this time, the air was being pulled out from her lungs.
She dropped the pen and rubbed her forehead, the tension from the sleepless nights catching up on her.
"You already know why. It's the way she lives, Jaja. Keia spends all her time playing video games and doing live streams. That's not a real job, not something we can build a future on."
Her frustration was evident, but there was a flicker of guilt in her eyes too.
Jaja, always the voice of reason, frowned slightly. "I think you've misjudged her, Seline. A lot of people turn their passion for gaming into a career. Have you ever watched her play? She's not
just doing it for fun, you know. For Keia, it's both passion and work."
Her words were measured with genuine concern. She knew how much Keia loved Seline, and deep down, she suspected Seline knew it too.
Seline shook her head, brushing off the thought. "No, I haven't" she admitted. Before Jaja could say, more the boss's secretary appeared, reminding them that the meeting was about to start.
"You should watch her some time," Jaja said, standing up. "She's really good though."
The meeting dragged on for hours, filled with detailed presentations, endless discussions, and the ever-growing list of tasks for the already understaffed team.
It was past 3 p.m. by the time the meeting finally ended. Seline slumped back into her chair, rubbing her temple in frustration. The day had only just begun, but she already felt drained, emotionally and physically.
"She's giving us more work and no extra hands to help. It's a mess." Jaja groaned as she passed Seline's desk, echoing the sentiment felt across the office.
"hm," Seline muttered, She began packing up her things, eager to leave the office and get some air. She needed space, away from the suffocating office walls and her swirling thoughts.
As she stood by the company's front desk, waiting for the elevator, she spotted a familiar figure approaching. Keia, wearing her usual denim jacket, Jeans, and Timberland boots, walked in with hurried steps.
Her face was puffy, the telltale signs of sleepless nights and crying. But she was smiling, albeit sadly, holding a bouquet and a neatly packed box of food.
"Teerak, I brought you flowers and your favorite steak," Keia said softly, handing the gifts to Seline with a hopeful expression.
Seline hesitated, her emotions tugging at her from all directions. She looked at the flowers, then the food, before accepting them.
"What are you doing here, N'Keia?" she asked. Keia's eyes were pleading, desperate. "Please, don't break up with me. Not yet."
Seline let out a long, exhausted sigh, her fingers fidgeting with the ring on her finger. "N'Keia, please..not today. I've already made my decision. It's final," she said, her voice cracking slightly as she struggled to hold her ground.
Keia's grip tightened around Seline's hand, her desperation growing. "Please just not today. Maybe next time, P'Seline please?" Seline pulled her hand away gently, shaking her head. " N'Keia, not today. Please understand."
Keia nodded, forcing a small, sad smile. "Okay..see you around." she said softly before turning to leave. Seline stood there for a moment, staring down at the bouquet in her hands, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions.
From a distance, she could feel Keia's eyes still on her, watching as she stood frozen in place.
"P'Seline!" Jaja's voice pulled her back to reality. She turned to see Jaja and Gap approaching, their eyes widening at the sight of the flowers and food.
"Whoa! New suitor already?" Gap teased, grinning. "NO." Seline said quietly, shaking her head. "It's from Keia."
"Awww, how sweet." Jaja said, though her tone was teasing her.
Seline rolled her eyes, signaling for her friends to join her at the nearby food park, their usual spot after work. As they walked away, Seline couldn't shake the feeling that Keia was still watching her.
She glanced back and saw Keia, standing from a distance, smiling at her with a sadness that Seline could feel in her own chest.
Keia's smile faltered slightly as she watched Seline disappear into the crowd with her friends, her heart still clinging to the hope that they might find their way back to each other.
