Anti wanted to make the doctors anxious. He wanted them to wonder why Chase wasn't responding to their "therapy techniques", which was really just torture with a different name so the doctors wouldn't have to feel so bad about what they were doing.
He wanted them to feel uncomfortable because the more they tried to hurt Chase, the more he smiled. Wider and wider and wider than the slit on his neck.
The needle was sliding in and out of his skin, red hot, followed by the pull of thread and then a little tug as they tightened it, closing up what they had done.
He was calm. Chase was calm. He was Chase, and the doctors were terrified.
His teeth were sharper, longer, they realized, his eyes darker than normal. That wasn't that hard to notice, usually Chase's eyes were a dull, wet blue, like he was always on the verge of tears, but now they glowed a sick green.
The one finished stitching up Chase's neck and the doctors scurried out of the room, the door slamming shut behind them. The clamps holding Chase up against the wall opened and Anti as Chase slumped to the floor, collapsing in a tired heap. As much as he didn't want to admit, the doctors really were quite good at their jobs, because usually he didn't react to pain.
Anti lay there for a moment, breathing heavily through his nose, before he ripped the needle out of his arm and threw it across the room. He hated needles.
He was glad he was there to protect Chase from what they were doing to him.
Because if Chase really knew what they were doing to his body, he would never let Anti take over his mind ever again. And Anti really needed Chase's mind.
