6. Bubble/s || Jackieboy Man & Chase Brody

omg this is probably my favorite version of Shy Away, I've heard it like four times and so far it hasn't failed to make me emotional

As the best friend of a superhero, Chase had a lot of privileges that most people didn't get. He got to go flying, learn cool parkour tricks, visit places he would never get to see otherwise, get help with anything no matter where he was (and as long as Jackie wasn't busy fighting crime).

Honestly, it was more he could ever ask for.

However, the downside of this was that villains would often find out who Jackie was close to so they could take hostages, and oftentimes Chase was that hostage. But really, if that was the only con amidst a huge list of pros, he would take it.

Chase had a memory of arguably his favorite hostage situation, which was an odd thing to have, he knew, but he really couldn't help compiling a list of hostage situations when it happened so often.

The villain of the week, ("and you must be the freak of the week" as Tony Hawk from the 2006 three star hit movie Boom Boom Sabotage would say) was someone who seemed to come right out of Miraculous Ladybug season one episode nine (Chase's daughter was addicted to the show, so he had seen that episode an upwards of ten times). And he had told the villain so.

They hadn't liked that, and trapped him in a bubble, leaving him floating hundreds of feet above the city.

Chase hated heights, so being trapped in a fully clear, very fragile thing, so high up in the sky, was enough to make him nauseous.

Jackie had saved him, obviously, but not before the bubble had popped and sent him plummeting down to Earth at speeds fast enough to render him unconscious (nothing was wrong physically, he was just scared).

But Chase didn't know why he was thinking of that now, at this moment. He felt like there were much more pressing matters at hand, as he stood, tied against a pole, waiting for the saw to slice into him.

Maybe it was to remind him that Jackie would always rescue him.

He hoped that was the case, anyway.
