"Jackie, d'you wanna come play Minecraft with me?" Chase asked, using the doorframe to lean into Jackie's room.

"Um," Jackie looked up from where he had been trying to get a bloodstain out of his hoodie. "Yeah, sure."

"Yessss!" Chase hissed triumphantly. "'Cause I just finished building a Nether portal but I didn't want to go in alone."

"You're literally a grown man," Jackie deadpanned, though a smile crept onto his face.

"Ok, and? That doesn't mean I'm not absolute dogwater at Minecraft and am just worried about losing my stuff!" Chase defended, moving away from the doorframe to fall dramatically on Jackie's bed.

"Umm, yeah ok, that's kinda fair," Jackie laughed.

"Anyway, come on, the blood can wait!" Chase said excitedly, standing up and grabbing Jackie's wrist.

Jackie looked up at him, his blue eyes dulling suddenly, and he pulled Chase down on top of him, maneuvering him quickly so he was laying on his back looking up.

"J- Jackie?" Chase squeaked out.

Jackie grinned, his teeth sharpening, before he lifted a finger to Chase's throat, his nail starting to cut across his neck.

Chase screamed in pain, his hands flying to his throat, but all he felt were his fading stitches. He was staring up at an empty ceiling, illuminated by bright fluorescent.

"Jackie..." Chase breathed, his fingers ghosting over his scar. He realized this was odd, that that was the only thing he took away from the dream, but he had been searching for that name for so long.

As long as he had been here, actually. "Jackie," Chase repeated, trying to solidify the name in his mouth. "My best friend."
