Previous chapter

"Ohm, a well-known figure in the underworld, was severely injured in a shootout between the Mafia and the police earlier today."

She paused for a moment, her gaze faltering as the reality of the words hit her again. The silence that followed seemed to stretch forever, the weight of the moment heavy in the air.

"Despite the doctors' best efforts, Ohm succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment." Tu's voice remained steady, but there was an evident quiver beneath the surface, revealing the anguish she was suppressing.

She looked directly into the camera, her lips pressing together in a thin line before continuing. "With this operation, the chapter of Ohm's life is now closed."

The broadcast ended with those final words, but the emptiness they left lingered long after.

Some months elapsed, and Nanon found himself on board a ship in the middle of the sea, the gentle waves rocking them as he poured his heart into a dying song of love and loss. The plaintive tune hung in the air, his voice touched by the bitter pang of memory.

"I thought love was an unquenchable flame, unfettered and bright, but with ash and embers fading away, what our love was has happened only in consequential memories of yesterday."

But suddenly, another voice joined him, harmonizing seamlessly. Ohm had stepped out from behind him, grinning widely.

"With every shadow cast, my light emerged most brilliantly from your heart;  we traveled long nights that tended to daytime approach;  to reclaim thought, they will set to these few dim stars a name known aloud."

They raised their bottles and drank in merriment, as the cold wind whipped around them, bouncing off the shining surface of the ship. Nanon and Ohm exchanged smug smiles.

.............

Nanon sobbed, shaking his head as he cradled Ohm's hand in both of his, pressing it to his tear-stained cheek.

"Ohm... Ohm..." he whispered through his tears, his voice filled with heartbreak and desperation. His world felt like it was crumbling, the man he loved slipping away from him.

But then, Nanon took a deep breath, trying to keep his emotions in check. With a mock-serious expression, he leaned close and said, "Ohm... you must only act simply. Don't do overaction." His playful tone was an attempt to lighten the atmosphere, and it earned a gentle smile from Ohm, even with his eyes closed.

"You know I was the one who operated on you," Nanon continued with a hint of mischief.

Ohm, still resting peacefully, gave a small nod, a smirk playing on his lips. Nanon patted his head and grinned. "I'll go set up everything outside," he declared, rising from his chair, ready to bring some normalcy back to the moment.

Nanon leaned down and pressed a light peck on Ohm's lips, making Ohm's eyes snap open. "Good night! Love you," Nanon murmured.

Ohm smiled and said, "Love you too," then tried to kiss Nanon again, but Nanon pressed his finger against Ohm's lips with a laugh, making Ohm pout.

"Let's continue this after everything is over," Nanon said softly. Ohm nodded his head as he drifted back to sleep. Nanon stepped out and found Chimon reviewing Ohm's reports, his expression a mix of seriousness and mischief.

"Chimon! Is everything ready?" Nanon asked, his voice taking on a mock-serious tone, ready to step into character.

Chimon nodded with a straight face, trying hard to suppress his laughter.
