Nishaan's POV:
I was feeling very refreshing. I didn't wanna go back to Seattle but we had to.
"Let's go to Wyoming next time," I said as I looked unto happy Jackson too. The taxi stopped near our home and we got out. Mr. Jackson and I got out the luggage and he paid the driver his fare.
"I miss Nevada, already!" I pouted.
The Nevada sun was still clung to my skin. All of the sodden, the exhilaration from the trip faded as I spotted my stepmom, standing in the living room. She was the last person I wanted to see in my whole life. I rubbed my eyes just to confirm I was seeing right.
To be honest, I totally forgot that I had a family, so seeing one of them makes me sweat hard. I hated it.
Her arms were crossed and red lips pressed into a thin line as she looked like a storm about to break. She wore a white maxi dress and was bathed in my father's fortune.
"Surprise," she said. I turned to see jackson was also in clear state of shock.
"She's my step mother," I informed to him. It was odd to see that his eyes were totally fixed on her like he knew her already.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in disbelief.
She narrowed her eyes as she turned to Jackson. "We need to talk."
My stomach twisted as Jackson, caught off guard, nodded slowly. I looked at him in confusion.
"Sure." He replied.
I grabbed Jackson's arm to we could go in and talk. It might be about my college maybe. My dad must have sent her here to lecture me.
"Can we do this in private?" She insisted with her dismissive tone.
"You mean, me and you?" I was puzzled.
"I mean, Me and him!" She pointed finger her him.
I bit my lip, fighting the urge to protest.
"What do you want from him?" I stood in front of him to protect him.
She just rolled her eyes and turned her heels and started walking towards his house.
Jackson came in front of me and held me by my shoulders. There was something unreadable in his gaze.
"Just stay here okay? or go to Ryan's. Don't worry! Just trust me!"
"I'll just wait outside," I mumbled.
"I love you," he said and pecked my lips.
"I love you more," he smiled back. We both grabbed out bags and walked to the entrance. I eyes her while Jackson unlocked the house. We both put the bags inside and as soon as she stepped in, I stepped out onto the porch, the crisp air biting against her sun-warmed skin.
He closed the door behind me. I was quite nervous and scared.
Time dragged on, each tick of the clock echoed in my mind and I was going crazy second by second. I nervously bit my nails. I walked here and there for a moment. I sat down again and then stood up again. I decided to go to Ryan's and check on them and tiger. It was already half an house and I couldn't take it anymore.
Just as I stood up, finally, the door creaked open, and she stepped out, with her face her face pale and tight. She casted me a quick, disdainful look before striding past me. Her range rover came and she sat inside and left.
My heart was racing.
What just happened? I thought to myself.
Without wasting time, I pushed the door and found Jackson sitting on the couch, his head buried in his palms.
