2 Years Later:

Nishaan's POV:

"Huh?" I clumsily wore my boots while holding my phone to my ear.

"Did you eat? I personally don't feel safe about you going there," she said.

"Mom, there we go again, it's fine! I told you, I'm totally safe." I finally wore my boots and held my phone with other hand.

I looked in front of me a chaos of nature disaster. I was in japan. Japan was struck with an earthquake a month ago. Now me and my team were here to provide whatever help they needed. Yesterday there was an earthquake and it caused lots of damage and I was here yesterday, it was quite scary.

I was at the camp site currently where we were providing food and clothes to the needy.

"I worry about you," she mumbled.

There was a moment of silence.

"I love you," I replied. Looking at this made me so grateful for everything that I had.

"I love you more. Your father misses you too!"

"I'm gonna be there next week. I promise. Did you talk to Jackson?" I got out of my tent and started walking around the camp.

"That's great! Jackson's coming back from Brazil next week too!" She exclaimed with joy. I smiled.

"Perfect,"

"Who's that? Is that mom?" I heard Ryan's voice from the phone.

"Yeah, you wanna talk?"

"Hey mom!" Ryan's voice echoed in my ear as my eyes filled with joy. I Missed him. Ryan's 18 now and it feels surreal. It feels magical. The feeling that he was mine was beyond my explanation. I was very fortunate that Ryan had accepted me in and we now share mother and son relationship.

"Hey baby," I replied joyfully as I smiled brightly.

"Are you safe?" That was the first question he asked.

"I am baby. How are you?" I tried to hold back the tears.

"I'm good, When are you going to come? There's PTA next week,"

"What! REALLY?" I stopped walking.

"Yup!"

I looked up at the sky and then looked down at my feet.

"I'll be there very soon, okay?"

I was so happy that I couldn't believe that I literally had everything. A son, a family, a husband.

I sat down a small chair near a food stall.

"Did you inform dad?" I asked.

"He wouldn't pick up. I called him."

"Don't worry, I'll inform him."

"You sure?"

"Ah-huh," I nodded.

"Okay, love you. See you soon."

"Yeah, love you too baby."

"And mom?"

"Yeah baby?"

"Take care of yourself okay?"

I nodded to myself.

"You too, sweetie!"

I hung up the phone and put it down my lap. It was beautiful. Even though everything around me was broken and sad, the sun was setting and it was beautiful. I prayed to God for giving me such a wonderful opportunity and this family.
