3.The twist of fate

Loud footsteps were heard as sun hurriedly headed towards haeun's quarter. As he opened the door, he saw ha-eun laying there lifeless. Her stomach area covered with blood, clothes were slightly ripped.

Seeing her like this made him completely weak. He dropped to the floor, it was like he couldn't feel his legs but he barely managed to get close to her. "Haeun-ah, how could this happen to you" he cried out, his face completely wet with tears as he caressed her face. "Mama, the servents of her quarters found her near the east lake" Eunuch Hong barely managed to speak in a broken voice.

However sun wasn't in the state to question any further, he just stared at ha-eun with sad eyes. His dreams of living a happy life with the person he loved was crashed, the love of his life was now dead.

Chae-rin was sitting on her bed all curled up like a ball, when a voice called out to her " Chaerin-ah" she immediately looked up, the voice was so familiar and loving.

"Harabeoji (grandfather)" she said with tears in her eyes, "Have you been well?" The figured smiled warmly at her. "Grandfather, how are you here?" chae-rin questioned as her grandfather was already dead.

"I couldn't even say goodbye to you guys when I died because I was so healthy but I the accident was so sudden. My soul stayed here because of that, but now that I can give my farewell to at least one of you, I can rest peacefully" he explained, "But harabeoji, how can I see like when you were alive? For the other people, their faces were so scary" chae-rin said.

"Chae-rin, that I can't tell you. You'll have to figure it out by yourself, it's time for me to take my farewell. Goodbye" he said slowly disappearing, "Harabeoji, whe-where are you going?" a tear fell down her face as she stared at her grandfather who disappeared into the darkness.

A week after ha-eun's death:

"Abbamama, sesonbin's death is not normal. We need to do proper investigation" the crown prince said. "I already told you that her death won't be investigated. She became a traitor after taking her own life" the king firmly stated, but he was looking weak and coughing repeatedly.

"Abbamama, how can we be sure took her own life?" the crown prince desperately tried to convince him. But the king slammed his hand on table, "How dare you try to speak over me! My decision is the final decision" he declared. The crown prince looked down disappointed at himself.

The crown prince came back to his quarter upset. As he entered he saw sun and the crown princess sitting there, he sat down infront of them. "What did Halba-mama say?" sun asked, his eyes filled with sorrow. "He wouldn't listen to anything" the crown prince said, his tone was of pure disappointment.

"Abbamama, please do something" sun begged, "I have to see what I can do about it" the crown prince slowly massaged his temple. "Jeoha! It's a big problem!" Eunuch Yoon rushed into the crown prince's quarter.

"What happened? Why do you look so tense?" The crown prince asked him, "Jeoha, Jeosangjheoha (His majesty the king) has collapsed" Eunuch Yoon said shocking all three of them.

They immediately went to the main quarter, as soon as they heard it. "Is abbamama alright?" the crown prince asked Eunuch kim. "He has woken up now, but he wants to see you in private" Eunuch kim explained, "Announce my arrival" the crown prince said after thinking for a bit.

As he went in, the crown princess and sun stayed outside the quarter. After a bit the queen can running towards the quarter. "Bingung (Crown princess), what happened to Jeoha?" she asked, "Eomamama, Jeoha has woken up now do not worry. Jeoha has asked to meet Seja-jeoha in private" the crown princess explained.

"I see" the queen sighed in relief but soon a chaos erupted, "Jeoha! Do not leave us!" Eunuch kim cried out. The three of them rushed inside only to see the king laying there lifeless. The crown prince was sitting beside him, tightly holding his hand and his eyes were full of tears. "Halba-mama" sun slowly said as a tear slipped out of his eyes.

"Abbamama, how could you just cover up ha-eun's death like it was nothing" sun said to his father. "I told you we will not investigate her death!" The crown prince yelled at him.

"But abbamama-" before sun could say any further, the crown prince stopped him " That's enough on the topic, I don't wanna have any more discussion about this. Also the coronation is in a few days, prepare for it" after saying that the crown prince left leaving a heartbroken sun.

"Is she still the same?" Min Gang-seong asked lady Hong, "Yes, she still doesn't want to come out" she said. He sighed, "I am already worried sick about chae-rin, on top of that the coronation is in a few days" he massaged his temple.

Suddenly ja-yeon came in and stood by the door. "Ja-yeon, do you want to say something?" Gang-seong asked her, "Actually...."

"What? You want to take chae-rin to your house?" Gang-seong asked shocked at ja-yeon's out of the blue suggestion, "Yes" ja-yeon replied sternly. "But, why?" He asked, "I thought it would be good for her to visit a new place as she has never been there before. Also, she said she wants to go with me" ja-yeon explained. "Are you sure you want to take her with you?" Lady Hong asked, "Yes aunt, I will take her with me if you guys give me the permission to" ja-yeon said. "Alright, you can take her with you " Gang-seong said smiling, "Thank you uncle!" Ja-yeon exclaimed in happyness.

"Hail the king and Queen!" The officials said as the crown prince and princess, now king and queen walked up to the throne with sun walking just behind them. As the king and queen sat on the throne, sun stood a few steps lower infront of them. The officials bowed to the King and Queen as the Privy council instructed.

Then the Privy council opened the scroll on his hand, "Jeosangjheoha has appointed Yi sun of jeonju Yi clan as the wang-seja (Crown prince)!" he loudly announced. "Bow four times to Seja-jeoha!" He instructed. As sun stared at officials bowing to him, he didn't feel anything. He felt empty, like he lost all his emotion. He just silently stood there as the burden of being the crown prince was put on his shoulder.

5 years later:

"Is humanness really so far away? If we ourselves wanted humanness, then humanness would arrive (from 'Analect', one of book of confucius)" 20 years old sun quoted to the officials, his tutors. "He's right" the sungkyungkwan students sitting beside him spoke up, "It seems Seja-jeoha will soon master even Analect (One of the four confucianism book of china)" another student said.

"You did an outstanding job today Seja-jeoha" chief state councilor Yoon byung-wook said in a mocking tone as if he was forced to say it. "Jeoha, I would suggest you to understand the meaning of quotes in the book and not just commit to you memory" Royal secretary Kim jong-Song taunted

The students were about to say something but sun slightly raised hand to assure them it was fine, the students sat back trying to calm themselves. "Teachers, I did not know you guys cared about me and my education that much. I really appreciate your generosity" sun said mocking smile.

The officials scoffed at his words while the students tried to control their laughter seeing the officials face.

"Eomeoni (Mother), here are the vegetable you told me to cut" ja-yeon said handing her mother lady Choi Inhyun a tray full of cutt vegetable, "Thank you" lady Choi smiled warmly.

"Do you know where chae-rin is? I sent her to bring a chicken but she's still not here" lady Choi asked ja-yeon. Hearing this ja-yeon and looked at mother in terror, "Eomeoni, why would you tell her to bring the chicken? You know how she is!" Ja-yeon yelled at her mother, realizing lady Choi's face also turned into terror.

"Eomeoni! Look at what I caught!" 16 years old Chae-rin exclaimed while running towards them. A bow in her hand and bag of arrows hanging on her shoulder. There was wide smile on her face, proudly showing off the chicken she just hunted.
