A few days later.
Ring ... Ring ... Ring
I looked at the number and recognized it immediately.
"Hey" I said as I answered the phone.
"Hey Dahls, how's everything going at home?" They said into the phone.
"It's going good Shawn, how's everything there?" I asked, glad to finally hear from him again. "I haven't heard from you in a while."
"Fine" He thought for a minute. "There is this new kid in here though."
"Really? Giving him a hard time I presume?"
He laughed "You know it ... but the kid does punch hard. Actually you probably know him."
"Oh? What's their name"
"Robby Keene"
I was taken aback for a second. "Lawrence's kid?"
"Is that the name? All I heard is he hates his dad. Been trying to talk to him. Even came to community service, he made a whole scene too."
"I heard he was caught, thought they'll do the whole trial thing though." I questioned, "but then, I doubt it, put a kid in a coma. Kind of a red flag."
"I mean, I kinda like the kid."
I gasped, "Shawn finally makes a friend?"
"He's not no snitch, pretty sure he gets out of here soon though"
"So ... he is your friend."
"As much as a friend you can have in jail. Well maybe friend is pushing it, more like we respect each other." He paused, "hey, uh do me a favor?"
"Hm?"
"When Robby gets out in a few weeks, pick him up?"
"You want me to pick your 'friend' up from jail?"
"Just think about it, tell him your my sister. He'll know."
"I'll think about it."
"'Aight, guards are on my ass I gotta go. But, tell them I say 'Hi.'"
"For sure, Talk to you soon."
"Bye Dahls."
"... Bye Shawn." I said as I heard him hang up the phone.
