colin had invited aimee to the annual 'for the children' charity event, an afc richmond event, as his plus one. he knew it was sad bringing his sister but since he couldn't bring who he really wanted to take, he asked her. she understood that and agreed, not wanting him to have to be the only player bar roy without a plus one. even if she really didn't want to be in the limelight at that moment. she wanted to live away from the attention and only focus on overcoming her burnout.
she took a deep breath as her and colin sat in the car.
he watched her closely, "are you okay?"
she nodded, "yeah. i just hate press. they always find something wrong, y'know? like what if i trip or vomit?"
"then i'll trip too or vomit or piss my pants or something," he told.
she laughed, "you're a good brother."
they stepped out both going ahead of rebecca as jamie walked off. keeley was still there so once colin stepped inside, keeley pulled aimee with her to take pictures.
the pair ended up helping rebecca pose when she admitted how much she hated that sort of thing.
"so do i," aimee revealed before giving her some advice.
---
colin and aimee had been moved to the same table as roy and jamie. ted didn't tell them but he had done it in an attempt to get aimee by roy, seeing that, even if he didn't notice, he was nicer when she was around.
they arrived to the table once everyone else was sat down, both with drinks.
"oh god," aimee muttered, taking the empty seat next to roy. colin sat next to her, silently planning to switch with her once she got up. "what's happening?"
"we're complimenting each other," ted explained. "to get those two—" he gestured to roy and jamie. "to find some common ground but they won't do it."
aimee nodded, "i can go." she turned to roy. "roy, you look really nice in that suit, super pretty."
roy grunted, clearing his throat, "you— you look pretty too."
she smiled, snorting at the compliment, it obvious he'd never been called pretty before, "thanks."
colin glared.
---
rupert had shown up to the event and aimee had decided he was awful. he was quite obviously the fakest person she had ever witnessed and that was saying a lot given her job and the people she was constantly surrounded by.
the first course came and colin had grabbed another beer.
aimee snatched it from his hands, "the doctors said not to drink, dipshit."
"oi, give it back, i can do what i like."
"oh yeah, i'm the one that'll have to drag your ass to hospital if you get drunk with a concussion," she complained.
