A sound of vomit could be heard from inside a bedroom. A handsome man frowned as he wiped his mouth clean with a clean cloth. He looked at the vomit inside a bowl with disgust apparent on his face and quickly went to clean it up.
Zhou Zishu didn't know what was wrong with himself. When he woke up this morning, he suddenly didn't feel good. His stomach and throat had been churning nonstop. And he felt nauseated.
Fortunately, Wen Kexing was in the kitchen, making breakfast for the two of them. Or the man would be unnecessarily worried.
"I might eat something bad last night," Zhou Zishu muttered to himself.
Currently, the two of them were in the Jinan city and they had rent the entire manor to themselves. Because this city was quite big, they decided to stay here for a month, thus, the decision to rent a whole manor for themselves was made. And lastnight, they went outside to enjoy themselves and went back late at night.
Zhou Zishu had many delicacies the night before and had drunk lots of fine wines. Though, not to the point where he was too drunk to not recognise people.
After that 'night', Zhou Zishu had made sure not to drink until he drunk his ass off.
He rubbed his stomach in discomfort.
"Ah Xu, I'm done cooking! Let's eat together!"
The door opened and showed an energetic Wen Kexing. Zhou Zishu immediately put down his hand from his stomach and acted normal.
"Oh, you've finished cooking?" Zhou Zishu said and walked to the taller handsome man.
"En." Wen Kexing smiled and held out his hand to the handsome and also beautiful man.
Zhou Zishu immediately reacted on instinct and grabbed Wen Kexing's hand. He smiled up at the man. "I'm hungry."
"Okay, okay. I won't hold our Ah Xu's hungry stomach." Wen Kexing grinned and pulled the man toward the door. "Today, I cook your favorite foods."
Zhou Zishu listened as Wen Kexing went on and on about the dishes he cooked for them. He smiled and didn't say anything, only the occasional "en" and "mm" were out from his mouth while he tried to control the nauseated feeling.
Soon, they sat in the dining hall and despite it was breakfast, there were so many dishes and all of it were Zhou Zishu's favorites.
"Here, this is the red beef that you like from the Luoyang city. I asked their chef and tried to make it myself. I'm not sure if it tastes the same as the original. Why don't you try it Ah Xu?" Wen Kexing smiled as he held a piece of appetising beef with red sauce in front of the man.
Zhou Zishu frowned as he stared at the beef. The scent of the meat smelled so bad that it made him want to vomit again.
"Ah Xu? What's wrong?" Wen Kexing frowned as he saw the changes on his soulmate's face. "It doesn't smell that bad, right?"
Zhou Zishu shook his head as he covered his nose. A frown etched on his face.
"Take it away from me."Wen Kexing frowned and moved away his chopsticks. Seeing the bad look on his soulmate's face made him worry. "Ah Xu? What's wrong? Do you feel sick?"
Zhou Zishu shook his head. He hesitantly removed his palm from his nose and stared vigilantly at the red sauce beef. Why did it smell so bad? Wen Kexing always cooked excellent foods... "Lao Wen, are you sure you're the one who cooked the beef? It smells so bad."
Wen Kexing picked a piece of the red sauce beef and took a bite. He tasted it carefully and was sure that he didn't cook that bad. The taste was delicious and it even copied the original taste perfectly.
"I think it is okay." Wen Kexing said and picked another piece and held it for Zhou Zishu. "Taste it."
Moving away his face, he avoided the beef. Zhou Zishu covered his nose and complained. "Lao Wen, move it away! It smells really ba--!" Before he could finish talking, he felt something went up his throat.
Zhou Zishu immediately stood up and ran to the window. He vomited and kept vomiting the bile. Until all that was left was bitter liquid. A hand rubbed his back soothingly and he leaned against that warm hand weakly. Soon, Wen Kexing supported him by his waist and brought him to the chair in the living hall.
Sitting down, Zhou Zishu frowned and closed his eyes. He didn't feel good and just wanted to rest.
"Ah Xu, what's wrong with you?" Wen Kexing asked worriedly as he sat beside him and watched the other man.
Zhou Zishu opened his eyes and smiled weakly at the man. "Sorry, Lao Wen. I didn't want to make you worry that's why I don't tell you I've been feeling bad since this morning." He closed his eyes back and leaned his head on the chair backrest. "I'm fine. I only need to rest for a while."
Wen Kexing wasn't convinced by the former leader of Tian Chuang's words. "Ah Xu ah... Give me your wrist. I'll check your pulse for you."
Zhou Zishu moved his hand away the moment he felt Wen Kexing's hand on his. He opened his eyes and smiled weakly. "I'm fine. I think I might eat something bad last night. Just let me rest for a bit. I'll be fine again soon."
Those words didn't help to dissipate the worry and concern in Wen Kexing's heart. Seeing the sickly pallor on his Ah Xu's face made him think outrageous things. He frowned and stood up.
Soon, Zhou Zishu felt his body was lifted. He opened his eyes and saw Wen Kexing's handsome jaw. "Lao Wen?"
"I'm bringing Ah Xu to the bed. You sleep and I'll cook something light to ease your upset stomach."
"Mm... Thank you, Lao Wen." Zhou Zishu muttered softly and leaned against those strong pectoral muscles. He didn't even know when he fell asleep back.
.
.
It had been two weeks and Zhou Zishu's illness wasn't getting any better. He would always vomited every morning and he couldn't smell or eat meat.
Wen Kexing was getting worried day by day. The thing he was most afraid was the illness that Zhou Zishu had before would come back again. He had almost lost the man and he didn't want that to happen again!
"Ah Xu, maybe we should go find Da Wu." Wen Kexing said as he put down a plate of cut peaches on the bedside table. Because of nausea, Zhou Zishu preferred to eat sweet and sour foods.
Zhou Zishu fell into a silence.
Just when Wen Kexing thought that Zhou Zishu would disagree, the man finally looked up at him and smiled.
"I understand." Zhou Zishu said calmly. "Then, you go and write a letter for them. Also, when you go out to send the letter later, I want you to buy some fish. I want to eat sweet and sour fish soup tonight."
Wen Kexing immediately beamed in happiness. He hugged the sick man and kissed his forehead gently. "Ah Xu ah, I promise that we'll cure your illness."
"Okay." Zhou Zishu smiled.
"I'll go write a letter now. Ah Xu, don't forget to drink your soup after eating peaches." Wen Kexing gave a last hug before he went hurriedly to the study to write a letter to both Qi Ye and Da Wu.
As soon as the bedroom door was closed. Zhou Zishu fell silent in contemplation. He thoughtfully stared at his stomach and a hand slowly landed to caress it.
It had been two weeks since he got sick and two months after that 'night' in Luoyang city.
"Perhaps..." Zhou Zishu stopped his hand and pressed on his lower stomach lightly. "I really hope it isn't like what I think."
Or else, he would have to go...
Just the thought of that, made his heart clench in pain.
