EARLIER

I intently watch Delilah as she bursts out of the pool and storms back into the building, her jersey clinging to her body. I make a mental note to look into her past; those scars on her skin send a pang to my heart. The thought of whoever hurt her makes my blood boil.

Just then, a figure joins me in the pool, their presence sending a chill down my spine

A coldness that's a far cry from the warmth Delilah radiates. The atmosphere seems to freeze, erasing the lingering heat she left behind.

I'm still reeling from my encounter with Delilah; she unsettles me like no one else.

"What are you doing here, Barbie?" I ask, annoyance lacing my tone.

Barbie's cheap perfume was a dead giveaway, no matter how stealthy her movements were.

However, Delilah's scent was unmistakable and irresistibly appealing. The blend of lavender and vanilla calmed my senses, a soothing balm for my tensed nerves.

I raised an eyebrow, chiding myself for how psychotic I sounded. Who gets tranquilized by someone's perfume?

"I came here to see you," Barbie said, her tone flirtatious.

But her attempt at seduction only filled me with dread, ensuring nightmares tonight.

"Fuck off, Barbie," I snapped, turning my back and swimming to the other side of the pool.

"Come on, can't we have fun like we used to?" Barbie whined, following me.

I gave her a disdainful look. "Do I look like I care?"

"Fine, go on a date with me," she suggested, her voice grating.

I laughed hysterically. "Are you on drugs?" I asked once my laughter subsided.

"No, I just want to relive old times, Pookie," she said, swaying her hips.

"What makes you think I'll agree?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Because of the real reason you want to kill the headmaster," she whispered, her barely covered chest brushing against mine.

My eyes darkened. I gripped her throat, lifting her off the ground. "If you kill me, the senior party will be postponed. I'm the headmaster's daughter, remember?" she choked out.

Impressive. Maybe I wasn't squeezing her throat hard enough.

"Eth-"

I released her, throwing her away from me.

As she wheezed and groaned in pain, I walked towards the building. "I'll arrive at your room in 30."

To maintain my facade, I had to sacrifice my sanity and the date would just make my skin crawl

——

My jaw hurt from clenching it as I stared at my reflection. My outfit was meant for Delilah, not Barbie.

Before leaving my room, countless notifications popped up on my phone. It was that stupid group Leo managed. I still don't get what Zhanna sees in the fucker

I scrolled through the messages until I saw a picture of the headmaster. Xavier had finally pulled it off. He finally broke through the firewall and got the information

The headmaster resembled Barbie but without the excessive makeup and plastic surgery.

Her appearance matched her villainous deeds.

The date wouldn't be a date after all; it would be an interrogation. Barbie's stupidity would ensure she wouldn't suspect a thing.

I groaned inwardly, resenting the waste of my hard-earned money on her.

Great. Just great.
