As Suhyun stood there, Minho still clinging to her like a needy cat, she sighed softly, knowing she needed to call her aunt before it got too late. She gently pried one of his arms from around her waist, pulling out her phone and dialing her aunt's number. Minho, sensing her slight movement, only tightened his hold on her waist, his face buried against her stomach like he was afraid she'd disappear if he let go.
Minho didn't loosen his grip, instead resting his head against her stomach, mumbling, "Don't go."
Suhyun rolled her eyes, dialing her aunt's number. After a few rings, Jieun picked up, her voice cheerful. "Suhyun-ah, are you on your way home?"
Suhyun cleared her throat, glancing down at Minho, who was still holding onto her like his life depended on it. "Actually, Eemo, I'm staying over at a friend's house tonight. I'll be back tomorrow."
There was a brief pause before Jieun replied, a teasing tone in her voice. "A friend, huh? Is it a boy?"
Suhyun's face flushed immediately. "No! It's-it's not like that. Don't overthink it."
Her aunt chuckled. "Alright, alright. Stay safe, and don't stay up too late. Also be careful."
"Got it," Suhyun quickly replied, hanging up before her aunt could ask any more embarrassing questions.
As soon as the call ended, Minho looked up at her, still clinging. "Now, can you stay?"
Suhyun shook her head, trying to hide her amusement at how childlike he was being. "Minho, you need to go to bed. You're sick, and you need rest."
"Only if you come with me."
"Wha- No, I'm not...And...And you're sick too!"
But, in true Minho fashion, he wasn't taking no for an answer. Despite his exhaustion, he tugged at her hand, dragging her toward his room. "Come on. You're not leaving me out here alone."
"Minho!" Suhyun protested, trying to pull back, but he was surprisingly strong even in his weakened state. "Fine, but I'm not sleeping in your bed. If I catch your cold, then who's going to take care of you tomorrow?"
Minho glanced back at her with a sly, tired smirk. "We can take care of each other."
Suhyun groaned, rolling her eyes but allowing herself to be dragged into his room. Once inside, she looked around. It was simple and clean, though it had an empty, lonely feel to it—much like the rest of the house. "Where are your clothes?" she asked, glancing back at him.
Without a word, Minho stumbled over to his closet and pulled out one of his oversized shirts and a pair of sweats. He handed them to her, his expression still tired but a small smile playing at his lips. "Here, wear these."
Suhyun stared at the clothes for a moment, feeling a bit awkward, but knowing he wouldn't let her rest until she did as he said. "Fine," she muttered under her breath, taking the clothes and heading into the bathroom to change.
When she came back, Minho was already lying in bed, his eyes half-closed. Suhyun stood by the doorway, awkwardly tugging at the oversized shirt. "Happy now?"
Minho peeked at her through one half-lidded eye and gave a soft smile. "Very."
Suhyun rolled her eyes, walking over to the bed. She grabbed a pillow from the side and placed it firmly between them as she climbed in, keeping a good distance between herself and Minho. "If I catch your cold, you're dead tomorrow."
Minho chuckled weakly, adjusting his position under the blankets. "Noted."
They lay there in silence for a moment, the room dimly lit by the soft glow of the moon filtering through the window. Minho, though sick and tired, felt oddly peaceful with Suhyun next to him, even with the pillow barrier between them. He turned his head slightly to glance at her, watching as she shifted slightly, getting comfortable.
"You okay?" Minho asked softly.
Suhyun gave a small nod, keeping her eyes closed as she pulled the blanket tighter around her. "Yeah. Just...you better get better soon, or I'll make sure you regret dragging me here."
Minho smirked, his eyelids growing heavier as sleep threatened to take over. "Promise?"
"Go to sleep, Minho," Suhyun muttered as she rolled onto her side, facing away from him.
As Minho's eyes finally closed, a feeling of warmth washed over him. Despite everything, despite his exhaustion and sickness, having Suhyun here with him made him feel... lighter. As he drifted off to sleep, he found himself hoping she wouldn't leave in the morning.
And even if she did, he knew that this time, he wouldn't avoid her anymore. Something had shifted between them, something he couldn't quite explain, but it was there.
