In a quiet corner of the world, near a cozy house surrounded by bushes, lived a family of Giant African Snails. The baby snail, just one day old, shared this home with his 10 siblings, and his loving mom and dad. It was the rainy season, a time when life flourished, and the earth felt alive.

On the day the baby snail was born, the rain fell gently, nurturing the soil and the creatures that lived in it. One week later, the baby snail had grown faster than expected but was still too young to venture out for food on his own. His parents, experienced in the ways of survival, ventured out daily to gather food for their children.

One fateful afternoon, while the baby snail and his siblings waited safely near the bushes, the father snail set off in search of food, unaware of the danger lurking nearby. As he crawled past the house, the family's 10-year-old boy spotted him and let out a terrified scream.

"Dad! Mom! There’s a giant snail! Look! A giant snail!" he yelled, his voice full of fear and disgust.

The boy’s father came rushing out of the house, his eyes narrowing as he spotted the slow-moving snail. Without hesitation, he called to his wife, "Get the salt!"

The boy’s mother hurried into the kitchen, returning with a container of salt. She handed it to her husband, and with cruel determination, the man threw the salt onto the father snail. The salt burned into his slimy skin, and within moments, the father snail died a painful, brutal death.

Unbeknownst to the humans, the mother snail had witnessed everything from the nearby bushes. She was frozen in horror, unable to do anything but watch as her mate’s life was taken away in front of her. Heartbroken, she slowly made her way back to her children, but without the food she had promised to bring.

When she returned, the baby snail, noticing her sadness, asked, "Mom, where is Dad? Why didn’t he come back with you?"

Tears welled up in the mother snail’s eyes as she struggled to find the words. "Your father..." she began, her voice trembling. "Humans...they killed him. He won’t be coming back."

The baby snail and his siblings cried, devastated by the loss of their father. For days, the family mourned, but life in the wild does not pause for grief. The mother snail tried her best to stay strong, knowing she had to care for her children alone.

Days passed, and the baby snail grew older, now 10 days old. The rainy season continued, and with it came more challenges. The baby snail, still fearful of the rain, stayed behind while his mother and siblings ventured out once more to search for food.

As the baby snail waited under the shelter of the bushes, the rain poured heavier than ever. Hours passed, and the baby snail began to worry. His mother and siblings had not returned. Night fell, but the bushes remained silent. There was no sign of his family.

The baby snail's heart sank. Something terrible had happened.
