mike booked a trip for everyone but once they got their some of them were disappointed as it was just an old big house "welcome to hiddon hall,54rooms,600 acres and atleast four ghosts don't worry their all friendly come on we've got a lot to do"a man said walking in whilst everyone followed.
"all these photos are of people who lived here,aristocrats and servants during edwardian times"the man said whilst everyone looked at the pictures on the table "didn't smile much did they"tyler said "so who owned this place"lily asked "the earl of hiddon there have been many down the years but during the early 1900's it was that chap up there the sixth earl we're particularly proud of that portrait after having it restored cost thousands"the man replied.
"what?i hate this place it's full of boring antiques that everybody makes a fuss about"elektra whispered to mike "you're just jealous cos you'll never have a house like this"johnny interrupted "what and you will dream on"elektra replied "be quiet and pay attention"mike whispered "everyone takes a name,at random and that's who they'll be for the rest of the day"the man said holding a hat "why"jody asked "so you can understand history better"the man replied.
"why miss evan's i do believe you look quite exquisite"lily said as her,effy,floss and tee were edwardian lady's "as do you miss kettle as do you"effy replied in a fancy voice "ladies your challenges for the day"the man said handing them sheets "this is rachel she is an expert in edwardian etiquette she'll tell you what to do"he added "learn how to be polite edwardian ladies,in hope of marrying the earls son the heir to hiddon hall"lily read "i am not getting married"she added.
"good for you"rachel replied "you must,it was vital to an edwardian lady to preserve your status you had to marry an aristocrat preferably one with a fancy title and a big stately home if you remained single everyone thought you were odd"the man explained "the men that is"rachel added "who cares what they think we're rich ain't we"effy asked "only through your family's wealth ladies didn't work in the way that we think of work they couldn't even vote"the man replied "well that's not fair"effy said.
"exactly but it soon changed afterwards haven't you read about the women who fought for the votes suffragettes"rachel replied "yeah that's what we should do,fight for women's rights instead of marrying someone just so we can keep wearing fancy clothes"tee suggested "but wouldn't change be easier if you were married to a politician or a man of power so you could whisper a few good ideas in their ears"the man asked "votes for women"he whispered in their ears "ok we need to get married"effy said "definitely"tee and lily replied.
"you must learn the secret language with hand fans and must grapple with the grizzly bear"rachel said which made everyone look at each other "it's the name of a dance"rachel added "so we're dancing and having fun while poor carmen's downstairs dusting and cleaning out fireplaces"effy asked "yeah but we're doing this for her aren't we,for women's rights"tee asked "yeah but that doesn't help her today does it unless she joins in"effy added.
"what's going on?"johnny asked walking in seeing the girls dancing with carmen "it's called the grizzly bear rachel's teaching us it for later"tee replied "she's a servant she can't join in"johnny added "it's not up to you"carmen said "uh yes it is i'm the earl,i'm in charge and what i say goes"johnny snapped back making everyone look at rachel "strictly speaking he's right"rachel replied "i hate being edwardian"carmen shouted storming out.
"ladies used hand fans to communicate,sort of like a hidden code holding the fan in your right hand meant follow me, drawing the fan through your hand meant ooh i hate you, brushing the fan across the eyes i'm sorry and fanning quickly i love you"rachel demonstrated "oh miss taylor,miss kettle i never knew you cared"effy said in a posh voice making the girls giggle "oh i get what this is it's like text messaging edwardian style"tee said.
"oh my phone i said i'd text my dad to see how he's getting on with poppy and rosie at the park today"lily remembered "but george's confiscated our phones he says they're not this era"tee replied "well he'd let me have it for a couple minutes if i say it's important"lily added whilst the girls shrugged "he'd love that it'd prove you can't survive without technology"rachel interrupted "look the sooner we get married the sooner we get out of the past and then you can get your phone back"effy said linking arms with the girls.
"ladies may i present lord taylor earl of hiddon hall and his son and heir the right honourable harry"mike said opening the door in a fancy voice "thank you for accepting our invitation to hiddon hall"johnny added "i must say you have a beautiful house my lord"tee said poshly "we do our best"johnny replied "and your son harry looks very handsome"effy added "we always like to look immaculate"johnny replied "when's me dinner i'm starving"floss asked.
"so harry must be wonderful to live in such a magnificent hall"tee asked while her and harry danced whilst johnny and effy danced "it's too big"harry replied "no it isn't say something else"johnny interrupted "what like"harry asked "something interesting like i taught you"johnny said "johnny upset carmen"harry replied "why what happened"effy asked "who cares she's just a maid"johnny replied "no she's not she's a person and should have rights"tee interrupted.
"and she's still our friend"effy added "not today,you don't care about her today"johnny snapped back "uh i don't want to dance with you anymore"effy said walking over to tee "you have to"johnny replied "erm i don't HAVE to do anything"effy said "and i'm not marrying harry either"effy added "why not"johnny asked "because i wouldn't want to marry someone with such a rubbish dad"she replied "doubt anyone would ever want to marry you then with your step dad"johnny snapped back.
"wait what"effy said "that's my dad your talking about"lily said standing up "are you talking about our real life my step dad"effy asked while he shrugged "take it back"effy demanded "don't tell me what to do"johnny replied "take it back about our dad"lily snapped back walking over "make me"johnny replied before lily pushed him "no,no stop"mike said whilst him and george separated them.
"don't you ever say anything about my family again"lily shouted "get out,tee or floss can marry harry instead"johnny shouted back "that means i hate you"floss said after drawing the fan through her hand "someone's got to marry him i order it"johnny commanded "you can't force them johnny i'm afraid you've failed"george interrupted when jody came in telling them lunch was ready.
"take it away no one's having any"johnny said whilst tyler and rick brought the food in everyone thought he was joking so they started to place it on the table "did you not hear what i just said"johnny asked "you're not being serious this took hours everyone has to try it to see if i'm a good cook"tyler said "tough"johnny replied "now johnny hold on you have to let everyone have some lunch"george interrupted "you said to show who's in charge didn't you who's boss that's all i'm doing"johnny added.
"yes but when-"george said when johnny hit the table "i am the earl"johnny shouted when tyler sat down starting to serve himself "what are you doing"johnny asked but he stayed silent "get up your not aloud to sit there get up milligan tell him"johnny added but everyone still stayed silent so he took matters into his own hands by grabbing the plate but tyler let go causing johnny to accidentally throw it at the picture behind him"get out"george said beginning to cry whilst everyone giggled.
