Final Chapter 40 - I love you

When Mikoshiba walked out of the exit, the liquefied liquid behind him began to evaporate in an instant; it seemed like the moment it no longer had any metal holders inside, it couldn't act on its own. It's no different to a parasite where it needed hosts in order to keep itself alive.

Mikoshiba was able to see the other three members of GokuLuck, the other Paradox Live competitors, and Machiko.

"Michi! Oh my gosh! Michi!"

Mikoshiba didn't think much when Machiko rushed over to him to try and get Michiyo off him and sit her onto the ground. He thought she was panicking due to being over protective. However, when he turned around, he saw a sight that horrified him; Michiyo's body was full of Metal Erosion marks. She's the one suffering from Metal Erosion. 

"That is...!" Saimon put a hand over his mouth. He's usually very calm and composed but he couldn't stop the rising fear brewing within him. This reminded him when his wife, Tsubaki died. "Metal Erosion..." He's no stranger when it came to this sight. 

The overuse of a Phantometal can lead to a condition known as metal erosion. Some symptoms include weakness and discoloration of the skin. One should stop using the Phantometal at the first sign of symptoms or else risk the progression of the condition into Acute Metal Erosion, which puts the person at a higher risk of dying.

"There is a way to save her!" Allen shouted! "Kiss her metal and save her-" 

"The only metal she has...it's in her heart." Mikoshiba whispered as he took in what's going on. 'The marks won't stop growing.' He thought as he sat on his knees and held her hand. "So cold...your hand is so cold...what the hell, Michiyo...?!" Why was this happening now of all times? He couldn't understand what made this time so different! Why were the marks appearing on her- "...there is a limit to how much you can take in at once." This was the only way he could explain this phenomenon in front of him. "This can't be the end! This can't be the end!" Just like how he entered her world last time, he should be able to enter it this time! He grabbed hold of his long metal chain around his collar, gave his Phantometal a lick, and then he held Michiyo to him and he kissed her on the lips. He didn't care if the others were here. He's saving her no matter what! 

Nothing happened. Unlike before, he was unable to enter her world. 

"Fuck! Why isn't it working?! I was able to go to your world last time! Why isn't it working? WORK DAMMIT! WORK!" 

Allen knew Mikoshiba was trying to enter Michiyo's world. He kissed his phoenix pendant, trying to see if he could make his phantom come out. Usually his phoenix will set the stage ablaze with its fire, a symbolism of Allen rising from the ashes after his parents burnt away his treasured CDs...but his phoenix did not appear after the kiss. "Nothing is happening...?!" 

Everyone else tried to get their Phantometal to work but no one's illusion was coming to life. It was as if this world never had such thing as illusions coming to life to start with. Confusion and panic ensued; what will happen to the world of Paradox Live without the phantoms to set the stage with colors and life? 

"Hey, look!" Kantaro saw a new hashtag trending. Phantometal was trending online and when he clicked on it, everyone was tweeting how their metal was no longer making illusions. 

"What...what does this all mean?" Anne asked. 

"It means our Phantometal is no longer working as it should." Hajun looked away from Michiyo and GokuLuck. "Anne, Allen. There's nothing we can do." 

"Hajun!" Allen did not like this! "We can't just give up!" 

"...leave them to it, Suzaku." Kanata said to Allen. He's getting ready to leave.
