Third person POV

It was a hot summer day at the Graham household.

The golden rays casted a shimmering glow on every surface they touched. The neighbourhood was quiet. In such a hot weather, everybody was most likely at the beach, on vacation, or just simply inside with the AC turned on to spare them from the cruel heat.

The sky was blue and clear as a crystal. The nature was still as a rock. Silence made it's home there, meditating. Reflecting.

At that moment, the world was at peace.

That is of course until two hotheaded teenagers strolled out of the house and into the driveway, their obnoxious high pitched voices resonating through the silence and disrupting it.

The peace the world very shortly knew was no longer.

"But mom, we're thirteen! We don't need a fucking babysitter!"

"Alexander Graham, watch your mouth!" His father scolded. "We're not gonna be back until midnight, and I'm not leaving you two alone in the house for that long. End of discussion."

"Riley, you have everything you need?" Her mother asked, fiddling with her purse.

The Grahams and the Sinclairs were invited to an exclusive event out of town, one that wasn't quite... suitable for children, which meant they had to stay home, and knowing their kids fully well, they wouldn't risk leaving them alone, unattended.

'Yeah, mom, chill." Riley rolled her eyes. Unlike her best friend, she wasn't upset about the whole babysitter thing. She could care less. "And you" she narrowed her eyes at Alex. "Stop being a little bitch."

"Listen to your friend, Alex." His father added and he gaped at him.

"She cursed! Why didn't you tell her to watch her mouth?" He feigned betrayal.

Mr Graham put his hand on his son's shoulder and squeezed, looking sincerely into his eyes.

"Because unlike you son" he pats his shoulder thrice, "I actually like her." He gives him a fake grin and pats his face rather roughly, leaving Alex too stunned to speak, as Riley, Mrs Sinclair and Mrs Graham all burst out laughing.

"Yeah, uhh, well" he stuttered to come up with a strong comeback. "You're like... old." He winced at that.

"Shhh, it's okay, just let it go." Riley mockingly soothed him while rubbing his arm but he just slapped her hand away.

"Oh Violet's here!" Mrs Graham beamed. They were waiting for the babysitter to arrive so they could finally leave.

"Still can't believe we have a babysitter." Alex bitterly mumbled. "Once the word is out, I'll lose my rep."

Riley snorted. "You don't have a rep."

He threw venomous daggers her way and was about to snap back, but when out of the corner of his eye, he saw pretty strawberry blond locks. The new person peaked into the scene, and he abruptly clamped his mouth shut and stared dumbfounded at the girl.

He then grinned.

"Alright, well, we don't wanna keep you waiting." He escorted his mother to the car, shoving her not so gently into the seat and closed the door.

His father raised a knowing brow.

"What happened to you not wanting-"

"Love you too, miss you, byee!" He flutters his fingers, less like a goodbye wave and more like an usher for them to go away.

Riley and her Mother watched the whole scene unimpressed.

Mrs Sinclair tuned to her daughter, an adoring smile on her face.
